Sorry if this is old news but I was looking at using the free Google Sketchup 7 to create some models. I tried the B3D exporter but could not get it to work. Then I found this handy article:

Now I have Vue Infinite 7 and this does indeed work. I also have UU3D and it works with that as well. Here is what you do:
Export from Sketchup as a KMZ model.
Rename the KMZ file to a ZIP file and extract.
Then use any program that can deal with Collada files to import the DAE file in the models folder.
