Hello.
That's excellent fun - or, to be honest, at least the movie is. I'll give it a try when I can get off my backside :o)
Goodbye.
Cool thing, just tried it and it works pretty well!
That is cool. Too bad they didn't make it so you can interact with it with your hand.
Wow! Absolut cool idea.
Now thats the coolest app I've seen using a web cam in while....
Neato.
First thing I thought when watching the vid was that the guy needed to shave.
very cool! i have messed with webcams for a while and this looks like its definitely worth the time.. maybe it could be used in a game like the iphone game super monkey ball!!!
Neat! Reminds me a tiny bit of
CamSpace, which has also released stuff quite recently :)
That's cool, but I've been wanting THIS now for a very long time:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPENA1Bpm68&feature=relatedKnowing the PS3 release schedule, I might get it sometime in the next 3 years (scheduled for 2009)!
This is excellent, I played with it for quite a while.
It's a shame that my webcam has such a poor frame rate. Making the room brighter allows me to lower the exposure, but my cam is probably just too cheapo to be much use. How hi do cam frame rates get?
If you could have a high enough frame rate, or could use a DV cam, I reckon this could be used for lots of different input modes: controlling the bat properly in a shufflepuck game is the first that springs to mind, in a 3D space. With high enough rates you could be altering the position and angle and velocity of the paddle as the puck comes towards you. Or a pool cue maybe, or a gun held in front of a player?
Pehraps people have been trying to do exactly this kind of thing already, it's just the first time I've seen it, and I think it's great! Thanks for posting it.
How hi do cam frame rates get?
My Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 can get up to 30 fps.
Many of the cheaper ones max out at 15fps.
Thanks, that's interesting. I think it'd be fast enough at 30. If the resolution is ok too, of course:) Tho I think that at an optimum distance it'd work well, for some games at least.
You'd have to mount your b+w design on a more practical controlled.
I should try it myself, it's good to know that webcams can be that fast.
Heh ,pretty neat!
Makes me wish someone would write better PC drivers for the PS3 Eye. $39 cam, and is capable of 60fps @ 640x480, 120 fps @ 320x240, which imo is insane for the price.
I really can't wait until the technology catches up and that programs can easily read depth properly from a video camera without any special set up.
(well, aside from perhaps a webcam that isn't fuzzy/noisy)
The problem with PS accessories is that nobody ever writes drivers for them. People always end up finding drivers from the third party that designed the device that have other devices for PC based on the same tech that at least 'kind of' works and they just leave it at that...
