BlitzMax sound test

After I released my GME module yesterday, I thought I'd try my hand at something a little more interesting...

This is a small sound test app : soundtest.rar (162kb)

I wonder if some of you nice Windows folks can test it out please.

Plays fine on windows 7 64-bit.

Seems to okay alright on WinXP SP3... (if its meant to just open a black window and play the music ;-))

Slightly brain-piercing tune though (never cared much for chip tunes myself) , and looks a tad odd in that the music starts a second or so before the window actually opens, but it does do what it's supposed to do.

Works great here XP SP2 SB Audigy 2. Love that Sid, also like some of the later Ocean loaders a lot too.

Doesn't work on Win98 (doesn't even open a window...)

And I though this would be some sort of fix to Max sound problems with FreeAudio, or some new free library... Bass unfortunaly doesnt even have a Linux lib :(

My favorite .sid is the Rambo hiscore music (for the sid: Martin Galway is the MAN!). Sids are C64 only, right? I only ask because the Rambo .sid in your demo sounds good but not quite up to par for the 64? Did the CPC/Spectrum also have a sid format?

Also, anyone know of any 'chip music' creators available for the modern PC/Mac? (I know we have various other track creators such as MadTracker).
