Chip tunes!

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Chip tunes!

I want to show for you my small on-line application — emulator of the music processor ( Yamaha YM2149 or AY8912 ). These music processors were used in 8-bit computers such as Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Atari ST, Amstrad CPC, MSX. Oh, nostalgia, this was so long ago :)

This emulator I have done for my friend (gift for birth day). He is a musician and began its creative life on ZX Spectrum computer.

Much recommend to look if you like chip music:
http://mmcm.ru/ym.html - musics, composed by my friend
http://mmcm.ru/other.php - musics collection, ~7000 tracks from other composers (from games, demos and intro).

Speccy Rulez Forever! :)

p.s. Necessary Adobe FlashPlayer 10 (site will offer to install it, if you have old version of the FlashPlayer or it is not installed).

Very cool well done, the sound quality is amazing!

Don't suppose you fancy doing it in C/C++ at some point? It'd make an excellent addition to maxmod2!

Don't suppose you fancy doing it in C/C++ at some point?

GME is good for that.

yeah, already done GME, but this sounds better and the license may be negotiable!?! ;)

wow great chip tunes, thx!

Thanks for the link - will be listening to these all night =) My wife doesn't share my passion for chip music though... very odd!

two thumbs up :)

Quick update: You friends chip tunes are great :)

Very nice job with the player too (!) although it seems to clip / pause some times - maybe it is just on my machine? CPU is showing around 15-20%.

@Imphenzia:
FlashPlayer - a virtual machine, she not very quick and so you may hear pauses, when other application use CPU (very intensive).

Sorry "MikhailV" the demo scene was pre-owned in 1987.

1987.

I don't see this in any of your links.

Anything since cannot compare to the impact of this.

Check the dripping and be on your way.

"puki" slams, "puki" dunks!

Ive always loved chip tunes, music at its very basic, you can't hide garbage composition in fancy production with them...

@Puki:
I am a not say about 'Beeper' music, only about Chip music :)
And I say about demo-scene in 1990-2000 years...

You like Agent X 2 though?

I bet he loves it.

Agent X - very very good composer, possible say — his tunes — this classics

Who is "Agent X"?

You speak about game, I say about Ed Polinski - composer and author of the music :)

I will be speaking with your parents.

@puki:
I not understand you.
You strange :)

p.s. May be you robot? o_O

Don't worry, no-one understands Puki :-)

Nice, is it done with the Flash10 sound features?

Choosing Tim Follin instantly i also recognized that sounds weren't emulated properly.

p.s. May be you robot?

He's a 7 yr old alien.
