That is just amazing. I don't know where people find the time to put so much effort into something like that which they can't possibly monetize, but I'm glad they do. I only hope they have permission from Konami because Sony have (very understandably) nuked anything LBP related which infringed a copyright.

Also amazing that you can do such a total conversion entirely with LBG. I'm not familiar with the game and I didn't imagine it could go to such extents.

That is so awesome. Contra was the first nes game I got, after the included mario/duckhunt. Needless to say I put some time into it.

No not at all Grey Alien. Go take a look at Contra 4 on the DS for a true 2D update of a classic.

While I don't really remember Contra/Gryzor or whatever name it went by I preferred the part at the start of that video which was the original(?) over the bits they put together using that PS3 game which while a lot of effort went into it just doesn't have the same style and appearance of the old pixel art.

Well, I didn't take it as much as a faithful conversion but as a different take on it. In that respect Bionic Commando Rearmed was very faithful, but for the very same reason it could look so much better was it in a different style IMO. The game itself was great though.


I still think that the best one is Contra: Hard Corps for the Genesis (from Treasure), both in gameplay, style and cinematic approach. Contra 4 for the DS is way too frustrating, at least for me.

Thanks for the Contra 4 recommendation and counter recommendation. Seems like I should try it out at least. Just saw gamespot gave it 8.0 which is good bad also said it was hard. I may be able to handle hard but it may also annoy me.
