synthasite and other website design tools

my friend and I made a website for our games on synthasite but I was just wondering what everyone else uses for websites and what are the advantages/disadvantages of other web design programs.

Your website is very slow to load.

I have used tones of programs for website design and finally microsoft expression web 2 is my tool of choice becouse the WYSWYG editor is very very reliable, what you see is really what you get on internet explorer, firefox, safari and chrome. This is the only tool from microsoft reliable on this aspect... but much better than dreamweaver or others.

Works fast enough here but its very bland and uninspiring.

I did my own site using XHTML/PHP/MySQL. You get what you want by doing it all by hand.

I do all my stuff by hand (I am a web developer full time), GfK's right, you get what you want (although it can take some time to learn everything).

I use eclipse + aptana to do PHP/HTML/Javascript generally for MySQL driven websites.

We use rackspace for hosting.

thanks for the comments. I know it is bland but I just spend 10 minutes knocking it together. I'll beef it up (or redesign it completely) later.

what is notepad++?

I use notepad++ for webdesign too. It's a hyped up notepad that has syntax coloring for html/css/whatever else you can think of. It's like a really basic IDE, and it works well for the programming side of web design.

Why does that matter? Do it all HTML/CSS. The myth that every site must have PHP or Flash or SQL or whatever in it is what causes the internet to be full of slow, crappy sites.

If you do some practice with HTML/CSS you can really do some cool things with it.

I coded my site entirely in Notepad. It's nothing fancy, but its organized, fast, and now uses CSS so if you can't stand the color scheme (as I have had people say...) you can just turn styles off in your browser and quit crying.

If you want a static HTML/CSS based site it is really easy to make a nice site with it.

I've heard MrSite.com can be good for the lazy.

I use only Flash Pro and customized Wordpress installations.
