Crazy Price Reduction Bonanza!

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Crazy Price Reduction Bonanza!

Yup, I've jumped on the casual game price lowering bandwagon. You can now get my extremely popular match-3 games for half price or less!

- Holiday Bonus and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz are now $9.95 / £6.95 for PC and Mac.

- Xmas Bonus and Easter Bonus are now ONLY $6.95 / £4.95!

Please take a look and tell your friends and family, thanks!

Grey, you might want to take the link to the BlitzMax Game Framework out of your sig...

Done! Thx.

Is this a permanent price reduction?

When I started selling my games, I decided that they would all be priced at $9.95... and it looks like quite a few companies have dropped their games to that now...

Any idea why? Is it the economic crisis having effect on the casual games market?

Big portals are competing on price to expand thier market reach. It will be this way until either they crumble or get bought out. For those with direct sales, doesn't make sense to lower price unless you think it's going to raise traffic as well.

Yeah it's permanent (probably ;-)) I'm trying it out to see if it increases overall revenue, plus it's a good way to build a customer list, also I've got a new game coming out soon...

Times are changing. Being defiant in the face of change is all well and good, but the defiant people will likely end up poor.

I chopped the price of Buzzword as soon as the Reflexive/Amazon thing happened. Sales have been pretty dead for the last few months - only one or two a month. Since I dropped the price I've shifted eight in a week.

Obviously I'm not going to be able to retire on the proceeds, but it kind of proves the point that a price below $3 gets you a few impulse buyers.

$3 for a game is nothing. I could lose that amount of money down a drain and not fret too much over it.

Yep I had to finish my current game before I could drop my prices. It was quite a lengthy process:

- Change HTML files for Armadillo wrapper and rewrap
- Update Pad Files
- Package in a setup.exe again
- Upload
- Change prices on BMT and Plimus
- Change prices on my site.
- send out a newsletter
- post on forums

x 4!

It may not be worth it, but we'll see.

Just wanted to add that it is working, sales have increased (of course the newsletter etc help). One customer even bought ALL FOUR games at once, wow. Next up I may add some special bundle prices (when I can get round to it).

Hey my game latest launches at midnight tonight on BFG (GameClub members only) btw and for general release at midnight on Friday. I'll post about it soon...
