I would image, that normal games could be converted into 3D via the graphics card. If you have the depth buffer, then it's surely only a case of seperating and processing stereo images, as you have all the depth information.

How is this different from the current glasses I own? Hell, I was playing my own games in 3D about 5 years ago when I bought them. They supported 100hz refreshrate too, but the Nvidia drivers were a little flaky, once they worked, they worked.

For computers/mainstream two options in the near future, a) nVIDIA's soon to be released glasses and b) 3d monitors. It's an interesting effect but contrary to 3d in reality, i do get headache after some time with these technical solutions.

lol, just followed the link by leady, and I must say them specs there are probably the most uncoolest eyeware that I've ever seen.

It just occured to me that this isn't aimed at the consumers at all. It's aimed at NVidia's stockholders.

Reminds me off some LCD glasses I had many years ago now. The trick was to cover one eye and show the screen made for the other eye and then switch back again so the other eye is covered and so on on the same speed as refresh rate. It looked very cool shooting a rocket under HalfLife using that depth technology, but it was anoying as well cause the images where flickering a lot... :-(

The downside of that tv is the viewing angle while keeping the 3D effect. It doesn't matter if you are the only one behind a TV/Monitor using that effect, but when watching a 3D movie with the whole family you would have to sit behind eachother to see the same effect.

People are already doing that on supported nVidia cards (series 8xxx and above iirc) for stereoscopic glasses (red/cyan), wouldn't surprise me if it'd work for the 'RealD' standards of requiring a 120hz monitor for it all to work.

The main thing I wonder is, how badly would the illusion be destroyed if that frame-rate isn't consistent?
