I don't know why they have chosen to ban such a light-hearted game?

It's no threat or in any way insulting to the politicians as far as I can see? From the video it looks like all the figures are simply caricatures

So, let's just run through Apples TOS


1> obscene material?
- None that I can see

2> pornographic material?
- Unless you want to count Sarah Palin then .. NO!

3> offensive?
- Caricatures of politicians. If they are offended they should get out of politics and deliver milk instead

4> defamatory?
- Pure harmless humour. Another NO

5> "or other content or materials that in Apple's reasonable judgement may be found objectionable by iPhone or iPod touch users"
- I cannot believe iPod/iTouch users would find the game objectionable. If they do they should be blocked from playing all games except noughts and crosses


Ok, the whole point of this is that, you could spend many months developing a game only to have the rug pulled from under your feet by numpties who clearly have had a "Sense of humour" bypass. The Mary Whitehouse legacy lives on in Apple Corp

My suggestion to the game developer is to prefix the title with a lowercase i .... iBarack Obama - Trampoline .. Job done!

If you insist on developing for a closed platform, being dropped just because they feel like it is an occupational hazard.

They should ask for permission before creating the game. Still, a bit of a silly decision. I assume it was a freeware game so they're not losing big amounts of money over it. But yeah, that is not the issue here.

This is what happens when corporations take away your freedoms, and can decide what programs you can use or sell.

if it wasnt a closed shop it wouldnt be an issue you could install it from a zip, but since the cartridge (well nintendo) days you were at their mercy, they were manufacturing the cards not you.
so iTunes being as big as it is can only have so much, its probably drowning in submissions and its been posted here there and everywhere about non offencive games being passed up

No one has taken away any of their freedoms. Nothing is stopping them from making the same game on GP32 or whatever the latest "look at me, I'm such a rebel, I'm using a console that no one else has ever heard of and sticking it to the man" console is now. Of course, they'll give up that slender hope of making huge wads of cash which prompted them to develop it for IPhone in the first place.

As much as we'd all like to think that as soon as someone provides a platform, be it the ipod, iphone, or even BlitzBasic, that we automatically now get full rights to do whatever we please with it. That's all very well except these are the creations of businesses and it is up to them whether they want to control what goes onto their platform - the people at Apple obviously just felt it was in some kind of bad taste or just preferred not to be known for hosting such an application at this point in time. Too bad.

That'd be the GP2X (no longer on sale), or the Pandora (not quite yet on sale).

A Caricature can make people feel ridiculed, or the whole premise of being represented by something "harmlessly funny" is detracting from a serious image, and therefore damaging.

I'm not saying I disagree with you, but certainly, there's other sides to consider, however petty it may appear.

This is the reason I'm not getting an iPhone. :)

Good luck with that, I think you'll find most phones will not let you run whatever you want without hacking them.

This is why i am not interested in the platform.

I read somewhere that there was a mostly open BSD or linux based alternative to iphone on the cards. There has been gossip of many companies like samsung spouting something wip.

All the videos of games on the iPhone that I have seen so far look quite unattractive because of the huge thumbnails. Haha huge thumbnails!! ;)
