Leisure Suit Larry : Box Office Bust - Trailer

Now the game will surely be rubbish, but this is probably the best game trailer I've seen in a long time. It's been a very long time since LSL actually had humour that made me laugh, but this trailer is genuinely quite amusing. You need a couple of references in order to get it, but I think most people will. I won't spoil it by saying what they are.

Erm... Is it just me or is this completely not funny? And I'm always both hands for the movie references!

Just one more thing, Larry looks nothing like himself, what is this? They've raped my childhood. Come to think of it they did it with the 8th one first... And yes, LSL was a BIG part of my childhood.

You're right, Larry has looked nothing like Larry in the past couple of games. I think it's supposed to be a new Larry, his nephew or something, but making him a young, reasonably good looking all-American boy just misses the whole point somehow, doesn't it? He's supposed to be a middle-aged balding 70's throwback.

This is actually an old trailer. The game was cancelled a year or two ago.

It's not funny and I've never seen anything vaguely funny or even titlating about the LSL games. I'm not surprised it's been cancelled, it belongs to (a thankfully beygone) era when treating women as sex objects was still seen as ok if it was thinly vieled with "humour".

I think the final nail in the coffin has been the stupidly easy, anonymous, access to porn via the internet that has finally put paid to the market for this type of thing.

No, it was put on hold last year, but it's still (apparently) scheduled for release in 2009. It doesn't really matter though, as the game is certain to be rubbish anyway.

If anyone told me they had bought the game for this reason I would not believe them, the same way I would not believe someone that told me they subscribed to porn magazine for the great film reviews.



This has nothing to do with being PC, I've no problem with people watching porn if they want to, but I don't see why some people want to pretend the lame jokes or paper-thin plots are the reason they are watching it. I also think this kind of tackniess has had it's day and needs to be binned and I am actually glad to see it go that way.

The only real "joke" with the LSL series is that they are rubbish on both counts, as games they are incredibly weak and relatively little actual porn was delivered too, oh and they are not funny, at all.

Yep, this is the one that Team 17 developed. I don't know if it was already complete when Activision put it on hold or what, but it's now being published by Codemasters.
