I'm having some trouble with my ISP. My website appears to be offline but they say it's ok.

The authoritive DNS server is simply not returning a record for www.tankuniversal.com.

I've noticed that issue with my site as well (GoDaddy/Google).

Haven't figured out what changes need to be made though..

So is this an issue at the ISP end or does it go back to the domain reg/lookup thingy? (my knowledge of the ins/outs of webhosting is pretty minimal).

Any explanation/light on the subject would be much appreciated!

I don't even get a search page any more - just says the page could not be found. http://tankuniversal.com still works.

If you have c-panel (or something similar) on your host, you can fix the problem yourself by adding a redirect from www.tankuniversal.com to tankuniversal.com.

The redirect is a good idea in any case. For search engine optimization purposes, you should try to encourage people to link to your site using one version of the url - otherwise the search engine linkjuice will get split between the various versions.

If you have c-panel (or something similar) on your host, you can fix the problem yourself by adding a redirect from www.tankuniversal.com to tankuniversal.com.


Only if the Cpanel server also controls your DNS in addition to the website itself -- if it's a 3rd party DNS server than cpanel won't be able to fix it. The visitor would never make it to the webserver to be re-directed in the first place.

It could have been both. It could have been a missing A record for www.tankuniversal.com or it could have been a DNS issue with your ISP.

To resolve the latter, I recommend OpenDNS.
