Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Where everyone go? Its quieter than normal but at least nobody is arguing.

From what I heard, many got annoyed because max3d has taken a while and gone to other engines. Peoples interest in b3d seems to have dwindled because of the DX7 limit and/or the fact its not cross platform.
Even though I am using (or learning to use!) c++ and irrlicht until max3d is usable i still like this community but rarely visit the programming forums anymore, except to glance if any beginners need help (im usually too late :)
I bet when Max3D is "finished" and is actively a part of the site or gets added to blitzmax's scope there will be a large reverse exodus.

I'm not going anywhere...since 2 months I'm writing balance/budget planning/cost checking for the firm where I work...not very much free time to do anything else (or claiming about 'a desert forum'!)....

It's alot quieter because the forum's posting rules were changed so that topics had to be about computing or technical stuff in general. And it's further split with the help forum now.
I agree, blocking posts about barely relevent but possibly interesting stuff is not helping keep an active/close community.

Yeah I'm really just a general discussion lurker these days. I'm looking at XNA just now because there's some real garbage on Xbox live making decent money, and I reckon I have what it takes to make garbage. The optimism is notable however only the truly insane continue to do the same things expecting different results.
Blitz had it's day, even though it is still quite usable.
Strangely the B+ forums have been more active than normal, which is where I like to hang out.
I'll admit that since running my tutorials on youtube, I've been tempted to go over to B+ from B3D as this appears to be what most people are using now for simple games.
Blitz3d along with WB3D is basicly blitz plus with 3d support so I stay with b3d for 2d or 3d...

I'm learning a new job, kind of doesn't leave much time for coding. Still got plenty of long term plans though....

Well, at least your left arm should plenty of exercise. Unless you're left-handed in which case you'll have to use your right arm to bring your jar to your mouth and back.
Im coding a C++ engine, Getting Elite Multiplayer IRC Chat system out (demo for alpha testers ;) ). Also family life takes precidence over everything.
I do agree a decent Blitz would be nice, Max is really good but Mark atm is doing the BlitzSDK and making language bits for it if the PureBasic post is to be beleived.
Blitz3d is old now came out yonks ago I would 'recode' that for OpenGL before someone else does. Before someone says they have its called BlitzMax im talking with the exact syntax the same as Blitz3d.
