Looking for a collaborator
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Looking for a collaborator
I've had enough of making abstract weirdo games for the moment, and I want to do something that has actual graphics and sounds and a start and an end and such like.
So, would anyone like to make a game with me? Art and music skills would be nice, but what I really need is just a bit of direction. I think if someone else was reminding me to put in things like menus and levels, we could make a pretty nifty game.
I'm never going to make a match 3 or anything, but I definitely want to have a go at making something a little bit more conventional than my usual output. So, do you feel like having a go?
My real name's Christian Perfect and my email address is christianperfect@... if you'd prefer to contact me that way.
This is sad to me, as your games were always a refreshing example of creativity in a world where a game's merit is largely based on its graphics.
Hey, I'm not selling out! I'm not planning on making a mainstream game, I just want to make something that has more depth to it than my usual fare.
Ok just checking, we wouldn't want to lose ya ;)
I kind of sold out with my current project Crystal Conquest...
I think the question on everyone's mind is what kind of game are you thinking about doing? Any ideas or are you waiting on a collaborator for the design phase as well?
To be honest I've got a bit of writer's block at the moment, but I've had a few ideas lately that are either too ambitious or too stupid, so yeah, I'm open to whatever.
Thanks for the compliments, by the way.
You could try joining a current project like
this.
A Warpy game + deeper depth = pure win.
Perhaps an MMORPG with 2D fencing, ice cream trucks and clocks :P
Don't forget the advanced marketing system!
A great idea.. but what game!?
Well, how about a picaresque? Maybe an adaptation of Voltaire's Candide.
edit: OK, I've thought about it, I know exactly how this picaresque thing's going to work, I'm going with it.
Emailing you now...
I'd collaborate with you anyday Warpy. If just to get an insight into how you come up with all your awesome crazy ideas. And as I have a feeling that when I turn up for work tomorrow there is going to be a big closed down sign on the front of the building I'll have a lot more free time soon as well.
I'm up for it too. In fact i have a lot of ideas, but i'm just spread a little thin right now. Drop me an email if your interested.
Time to resurrect this thread!
I've made a good amount of progress on my game, the design's all sorted out and most of the gameplay's in. The programming's by no means done, but it's got ahead of the rest of the production so I need some content before going any further.
If you are interested in:
-drawing hats and moustaches or background scenery
-writing dialogue or "inbetween bits" in a prose style
-making sound effects or enlightenment-era-appropriate music
please email me.
Anyone not interested in enlightenment-era videogames but interested in collaborative work, also email me please, I have a plan.
what does it look like so far? any screenies?
I'll think about it and if its more worth my time than the game im just about to start working on now then I will certainly join.
what language? bmax? b3d?
-drawing hats and moustaches or background scenery
What about wigs or beards.. boots maybe?
-writing dialogue or "inbetween bits" in a prose style
I had a little midget, he wasn't very tall, he used to stand on verges, to make him look less small.
-making sound effects or enlightenment-era-appropriate music
How about this? *blows raspberry*
In regards to music perhaps Mozart?
The question is what instrument would suit, organ, piano or some string or choral flavor?

The electric guitar.
I think we might all be safer when Warpy's attention is scattered over dozens of small, abstract ideas instead of being focused in one place. This might turn out to be too much like staring directly into the sun. I'm interested in seeing what will become of this.
Edit: Probably too late, but instead of adapting Candide as the story, why not go with an original tale revolving around Francois-Marie's scientific and carnal pursuits with Emilie du Chatelet? The goings on at Chateau de Cirey altered the course of science and literature, as well as being pretty fascinating in their own right.
SpaceAce
Appropriate music is probably pretty old, pre most common classical music. So like lute, or maybe harpsichord (e.g. Bach's well tempered clavier).
I'm scared to think what this guy might come up with when he puts that brain to a full size game. I reckon you could make a mint on Xbox live, Warpy.
"this guy" is beginning to get a bit worried he can't live up to your expectations!
SpaceAce - good suggestion, but it's not a straight adaptation of Candide, it just follows the same kind of improbable adventure with philosophy thrown in. Each game follows a different story.
im interested in collaborating but im just a programmer, I dont know how useful I could be,
Although I can make Isometric graphics
