Blitz3D working well under Wine?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Blitz3D working well under Wine?

Just for the sake of trying, I ran Naked War in Ubuntu 8.10. I'm actually using Crossover Games (got it for free thanks to the Lame Duck Challenge!), but it's still Wine.

To my amazement, it actually works PERFECTLY. I remember a while ago Blitz3D apps just plain fell apart in Wine. Other random b3d apps seem to have similar positive results.

It's somehwat amusing to me that while Blitz3D surviving under Windows is getting less and less likely (with murmurings of that much-needed API break), it is getting better and better under Linux :P

I could never get my B+ apps to run right in Wine.

I also tried running the B+ IDE in Wine... that was really awful :)

I really miss Linux... I went back to Windows and wanted to dual boot, but for some reason the live CD won't load :(

But I'm glad you're having success!

This is -very- interesting to know. Its only really B3D thats tying me to windows (other than testing and playing the odd game)

What version are you on?

Yes, I'd linux running within VWare recently with BMax compiling stuff within the Red Hat Linux VMware - However I'm teetering on the brink off using one of my odl PCs to go the full ish with Ubuntu - that seems to be flavour of the mo, B3D + Linux - woo hoo.

On a low end PC (GeForce 2-4) Ogre3D Linux version runs better than Blitz3D or BlitzMax+MiniB3D under Wine.
