I notice on the Max3D google forums that Mark has sprites in Max3D. I have asked this before BUT what are the plans for the 2D capabilities of Max3D? Will it rely on Max2D
p.s. I realise I can get involved and take part in the planning to some degree but no time.
http://www.blitzbasic.com/Community/posts.php?topic=82548#932006If you want to use Max2D with Max3D,
as far as i have understand it is planned to work with max2d in BMax and whatever you like and can achieve in another language. Thats why there are no direct API commands to set a 2D Mode.
Yep but I saw Mark working with sprite entities in Max3D which did not appear to be related to Max2D. I am wondering whether Max3D will deliver an OGL 2.x 2D functionality.
Are you thinking like point sprites?
Once you're doing 3D you might as well just create a quad with a texture on it and position it facing the camera? That's more or less what Max2D does.
Yep but I would rather it be implemented for me.
Yeah, that would be nice, especially if you're used to working in 2D and don't really know or want to know about 3D stuff.
