Amazingly good webhosting (affordable)!

Ok at work I had to find a decent ASP capabable web host as our dedicated servers run on linux. Apache ASP is not much fun either! So I went and had a hunt around and came across a very good deal!

If you have ever tried buying hosting, you will know that you get ripped, bad service, downtime, etc, etc, etc. It is very hard to find a decent service that ticks all boxes.

These guys provide an amazing shared hosting setup. I have gone through many hosts, shared, dedicated, vps, uk servers, us servers etc etc etc

Usually with shared hosting you will become a number on a certain server. Your website plus hundereds of others will populate that server. When one server fills up to their quote, another box is started. As you can imagine this means that if one GREEDY website on your machine takes up all the resources, then everyone suffers!

Well with TSO HOST their setup is a cloud network. All files are stored upon a server setup for data only. All requests for websites go through gateway computers (load balancing). At this point the entire network of computers is able to serve your web page and do all of the resource hungry tasks (running a php/asp script and accessing a database).



If one of the machines gets overloaded its no matter as there are others to take over and handle the strain.

Now ontop of this (this is the awesome bit) it is possible to have a HYBRID website that can run on Windows and Linux at the same time. It does this by splitting the cloud of computers into two groups. Windows and Linux respectively!

Unlimited space and bandwidth is generally a lie. Dreamhost even admitted it at one point that they oversell their service (most all webhosting companies do). I´m not saying they are bad, I have had my site there for years, and have been very happy with their service. I don´t have unlimited bandwitdth, but I have so much space and bandwidth that I´ll likely never get close to it. Plus they give you a 50GB account for backup use, which is quite handy. The idea is that most users will only use a small portion of what they pay for, so they probably have 30-50 users using less than 5GB of bandwidth and space, for every 1 user that comes close to their limits.

If I remember correctly, the other non-official Blitz forum (what was it´s name again), was hosted at Dreamhost, and they had to move their site because they were causing too much load on the server. I´m sure someone here can verify this. :)

No host can offer unlimited anything without overselling :)

But, yeah, I currently have two hosting accounts at $1/month for 1GB/10GB (my definition of affordable). If I needed 100GB of space I'd definitely take up the Tsohost offer, though.
