Actually I confess I've never played it. Got real guitars and been in real bands, BUT as everyone says the game is great fun especially for multi-player I should really give it a go sometime (with my kids who may well groove to it)

isn't this kind of like simon ?

No, it's not kind of like Simon.

I could imagine playing this together with other fools would be fun again.

Btw it's an interesting experience jamming with others were each one plays an instrument on his/her iPodTouch.

Happy to see that there are still some C64 lovers out there.

Makes me feel less old... ;)

I already found this C64 video when looking at what people was able to do on difficult levels of Guitar Hero shortly after buying it... fascinating, but I wonder if it would have sold well if someone did that at the time. :)

It's not like you are on stage with an audience... we could say the same for the Wii or a driving wheel.
You are not expected to get all serious when playing you know, so if you poke fun with your friends the more the better.

Otherwise it gets like the Guitar Hero episode of South Park. ;)

It's really good in coop, expecially since each player is playing different notes (guitar and bass) and the combo is broken when either player screws up, so you can get very tight with your pal (in that respect it's quite nice to play it with your partner too, since you don't even have to like traditional videogames to enjoy it).

ok - lol

Yes, it is much like Simon and other musical games. Dance Dance Revolution comes to mind.

No, it's not kind of like Simon.

Some musical games do not strong stand on the repetition and memorization of keys, others does ...

Those guys on youtube who can hit every damn note to say.. "justice for all" on GH or Rockband or whatever... Why waste talent? Why not learn a real instrument instead ?!? (as their sense of rhythm, coordination and dexterity are impeccable)

Those games are a waste of time to me. I would rather pick up a real one and learn that
(although i suppose you could say that for any game... but still..)

Cool C64 proj though :)

Here's the thing with these games, you may be able to hit the right notes on time etc, but then it's easy hitting a button, striking a guitar string with the right feeling takes more skill - but of course it can be developed.

Haha, I couldn't stop laughing when I saw this. That's just too awesome.

If I hooked that up when friends stopped by for some brewskis that would honestly make a better hit then the current guitar heros/rock band.

..and another hiccup to the childish competetiveness on this forum. Who cares? You aren't converting anyone, and there's no point in trying.

It's not like these games are really threatening the lifespan of real musicians. The creation and idea is cool, just say it and get over yourselves.

@Retimer: Actually my response about "hitting a button, striking a guitar string" was in response to this from D4NM4N:

Why waste talent? Why not learn a real instrument instead ?!?

I felt he had a good point but wanted to point out that learning a real instrument probably takes a bit more dedication, and in fact may be more rewarding long term. However, I don't see a reason not to do BOTH i.e. have fun on the game (as I've said I'm totally open to the idea and want to play it soon), AND play a real instrument too. If these games encourage more kids to play instruments, then great! :-)

True. It's certainly a lot more productive then shooting ragdolls around, or running them over =p

Yeah, unless people fight over who messed up the solo, then it's probably more social too and teaching teamwork (which is pretty important for young boys to learn imho. I'm sure it's equally important for girls too, it's just that I have 2 boys who could do with a bit less competition and more cooperation ;-)).

As i wrote, playing together with others could be kind of a fun, why someone thinks this is teaching teamwork better like other games which are designed for beeing played with each other is beyond me and i also doubt that this brings you closer to making music the same way i doubt that the Wii turns fat&lazy people into fit ones. There are much better opportunities intoducing someone into both making music and getting physical active.

I never said that, just that it will teach teamwork better than "shooting ragdolls around" etc as in single player shoot 'em ups or GTA IV. You should read posts more carefully before trolling ;-)

I had the impression that you pointed out that the teamworking aspect in this one is better than in other games which is something i don't agree with. If that wasn't your point then well misunderstanding. Your statement isn't as cleary written as you might want it to be.
