Is it worth getting Halo on 360 for 600 points?

For a week Halo is only 600 points on XBox360 Live Arcade. I already have Halo3 but wondered if it's worth picking up this "classic" or if it'll look pretty bad... Is the game fun? I guess that's the important thing :-)

Halo is a good game, but it needs a PC to get the full enjoyment. Halo 3 was on XBOX360 only, which must be also as good as the outdated console can provide.

I enjoyed Halo. Actually I like it better than Halo 3. Maybe because there wasn't so much hype about it back then.

OK thanks. Anyone else think it's worth 600 points? (that's exactly how many I have left!) Perhaps I should spend it on Braid or something else though...

I think it is. Then again though, Halo is one of my favorite games. I enjoyed the first Halo much more than the 2nd one and the 3rd one as well. It's just a very solid game which is well balanced. The biggest gripe with the game are the repeating corridors during the campaign. When you play the game co-op though it's no biggie. Other games have surpassed Halo in many areas but it's still up there in terms of fun factor.

Repetitive level design... Many corridors and rooms look exactly the same. But the game is still a lot of fun, with a nice atmosphere.

Personally I would get Braid.

I'd get Halo, I liked it more than Halo 3 too.

The campaign in the first Halo is a lot better than the other two... I feel like the new ones skimped a bit on single player in favor for online multiplayer.

Bought it last night, 2Gb download! Enjoyed the first level, yes it was repetitive though. Scripting was OK too.

@Beaker: Yeah considering that too, demo was good, but there's lots of games vying for my attention.

I was going to suggest Keflings as an alternative for the kids - mine love it, and it is good for co-op. But I see you have already spent your points. We'd Keflings on our original (shoddy luckily only had it 5 weeks) xbox, however it is not on our new console.....

You can just redownload it. Unless you mean it came free with the console?

Yep, so long as you've recovered your GamerTag, everything you bought on it will be available for free download. I think you mentioned recovering your GamerTag on another thread.

EDIT: Ooh, that reminds me. Must go and download Braid and Bionic Commando to the new box.

So I've been having fun with Halo, about halfway through. I like the simplistic graphics as I can see what is going on! However, the corridors are a bit samey. I much prefer the outdoors areas, they feel like a primitive version of Far Cry or something.

i've never been a big halo fan, but oddly enough i own all 3 and i'm actually looking forward to checking out halo wars.

btw jake i saw you playing castle crashers, how you liking it. i like the demo but haven't bought it yet, i keep spending any points i get on the music game downloads.

Castle Crashers is great. Was playing it coop with my son. Every level is different. However it gets pretty tough later on and we are replaying the same level a lot, many TOO much. Still I think it's great value, there's tons of levels.

Was playing Halo for 2 hours last night on level 5 (it's a big level which is a bit repetitive), got to a checkpoint, saved and exited. Went back in to check it started at the checkpoint BUT IT DID NOT, it started at the beginning of the level. That's practically a crime in my book - I'm a busy man and don't want to have to replay the whole level. Bummer.

@Grey, yeah, I've the original Halo, Halo expansion packs and stuff, but TBH my son is/was way ahead of me on that. On the gaming fornt these days I (very slightly) envy my sons progress in stuff compared to myself. But, then I would have loved the array of games and the quality that is available for a damn sight cheaper than in my day.

The things is he doesn't have an interest in coding & rendering 3d models & blah, which kinda frees up his time to woop me at Halo3 deathmatch so well. The graphics are outstanding though....
