..man..this is a must stuff...im running 3dsmax9 on my mac! haha

Is the performance much different in OPENGL vs. DirectX?

I'm testing VMWare Fusion 2 vs VirtualBOX 2 on my IMac these days. While the first wins with DirectX 9, VirtualBOX smashess VMW even with its experimental OpengL support. I guess I will install Parallels 4 to test it too. If it lets me, as I used all the 14 days test time on version 3 of it.

I am very impressed with Parallels. OpenGl performance isn't as good as native (obviously) but it does work very well. Coherence mode is particularly nice.
VMware Fusion, while supporting DirectX, doesn't actually implement OpenGL support at hardware level (as far as I am aware) so it's performance is terrible. It was a toss up for me, between fusion and parallels, as fusion seems to be more stable/slightly faster but the OpenGL support swung it.

I am keeping an open mind on virtual box, I think this may well be a really good solution once they iron out the 3d support :)

..far as i can tell you..max running just just fine here :) excellent..man, im rendering with Vray&max on my MacBook Pro ! ha..so cool..cant wait to come back and try my game levels with B3D+Horde3D wrapper combo..
