UI improvements for Blender
are coming. It looks like in about a year (two releases?) we will see some interesting improvements start to surface. Most of the developers seem to understand that the interface sucks; it's just a few of the more vocal change-adverse users who do not.
Blender is a neat program, really. It's a very powerful package, and the new releases are always completely exciting because of the new stuff they manage to fit in. For example, the
latest release brought Really Really good looking real-time previews, further beautified fluid simulation stuff, and the awesome Grease Pencil mode. (And of course better rendering).
Even with all the functionality crammed into Blender, it is also undeniably fast. It opens in a blink and never slows down without ample justification.
