GEForce 8800 GTS for $78

How does it compare to a 9500GT 512. Which i have now. Even though the 9500GT 512 only cost me £50 I've seen a vast increase in Leawerks Engine performance, over my 7950GX2 1GB which seemed to choke when using LE.

I'm asking because you keep pimping this card. It's a little more expensive here in th UK but will going back to an 8xxx series be better than sticking with the 9500GT?

Aint got a clue about this stufff anymore and I certainly was suprised at the 9500GT performance. I was expecting it to choke also on COD- World at War but it runs it brilliantley.

What quality can COD:WaW run at (with a steady and playable framerate)?

It runs at a res of 1280/1024 - 85hz, 2x AA, all texture and effects set to high, at a fast FPS. Don't know how to measure the FPS but I see no differecne to the quality of it and the speed of it, even in COD 4, when using the 9500GT over the 7950GX2.

The 7950GX2 was just 2 7900 GT's on on eboard. A single SLI type thing.

Your 9500 might be better. I don't know much about the 9 series. But the 8800 GTS is my highest card, and it works great with everything. I have been watching the price of this a lot, because it is a cheap card where you aren't sacrificing performance.

Wha tI'm curious about is how loud it is. Any idea how many dB the fan cranks out?

I currently have a passively cooled X1650XT, and love that it's completely silent.

Ive got the 8800 GTS 512MB... when you start the PC up its very loud... but after the POST screen its very quiet!
