What's the first game you ever bought?

I guess in my case this would be the Bard's Tale 3 (The Thief of Fate) for the C64.

I cant remember for the Amstrad 464 or the Amiga 600... but for the PC it was an excellent horror adventure game called Realms of the Haunting!

It had a brilliant story and graphics(for the time)... took me ages to finish!

C64 - Mr Wimpy

An absolutely atrociously bad game called Atom Smasher on the Amstrad CPC464.
I still can't believe I spent my first gaming pocket money on it, 24 years ago!

First game I played was C64 - Barbarian
First game I bought myself - Rainbow Six

Slippery Sid and CRL Golf for the ZX Spectrum.

Vic20, it was one of the cartridge games, might have been Omega Race.

First game machine was the Atari 2600, Combat! and Asteroids for that one.

Man you're right, i completely forgot about the console. Would be Missile Command for me, also for the VCS 2600, although it was more a present. :O)

Jet Set Willy on the Amstrad CPC. One of the best purchases I ever made.

It was probably Fishing Derby or Dragster, Atari 2600 ~1982.

I so wanted an Atari 2600 but, alas, we were too poor.

I was born after my family went thru the C64.. but I think it was some game involving chasing a mouse.. or something.

The first game we got for the PC was probably AOE1.

Defender of the Crown, Amiga 500. Yeah!

Well.. I bought the home version of Pong. :) The game that really threw me for a loop was Atari 8-bit Star Raiders. What a game that was for it's time. ;)

The first Game I bought, well had bought for me with Birthday Money, was Lady Bug for the ColecoVision console.

Some Spectrum game, maybe Rockman. Still have it as well. I used to go to town every weekend and look at the £1.99 Mastertronic games.

Ocean Conqueror by Hewson on the Amstrad CPC464.

Sargon II Chess (cartridge) for the Vic 20. Can't remember ever playing it though - spent more time typing in code I didn't understand instead.

The first game I remember buying was Jupiter Lander, a C64 cartridge, which if I remember correctly, was the first ever commercial game available for it.

The first game I actually bought myself (instead of pestering my mom) was

Played many games as a child which I didn't buy myself - and aside from Console games (atari 2600 / colecovision) the PC games weren't purchased in the first place - however the first game I purchased myself was Hero's Quest (Sierra changed the name to Quest for Glory some years later). Great game.

Wonder Wizard 7702
Released in 1976
The Wonder Wizard Model 7702 was sold in 1976 and contains a Magnavox Odyssey 300 circuit board housed into a derivate of the 1972 Odyssey case. The bottom part of the case is identical, only the top differs and was made in two versions: one with silver knobs and woodgrain only in the section containing the "Wonder Wizard" name, and one (as pictured) with black knobs and woodgrain everywhere.

Like Odyssey 300, this system used a 3-position switch to choose one of three predefined combinations of difficulties, avoiding the need to change the ball speed, ball angle and bat size separately. Few systems used this design and most others used individual skill level switches.

I am surprised/astounded that people are still banging on about the oric-1 but a quick google search came up with this first decent game I played...

A (rubbish) space invaders game on the ZX-81. I think it might have been called "Space Invaders 3D".

PieMan for the Apple II. It was hard to find any games at that time. I think I also got Ultima I about the same time.

I guess since I didn't own any games until I got the Gordon Harwood Amiga 500 Magic pack, which came with a set of 10 games including Datastorm and Wizball, those would be the first games I ever spent money on.

I can't remember what was my first game. :(

It was for Phillips Videopac, what ever it was. I think it was either the slalom, baseball or racing game.

The first game I picked out for myself was Parsec for the TI-99/4a. My grandfather paid for it though, since I was only 4.

The first one I bought with my own money was something on the NES. Probably Super Mario Bros., since we had the NES that came with Duckhunt and Gyromite.

The first PC game I bought for myself was Police Quest.

First games I played were some Intellivision ones, closely followed by ZX81 titles such as "Secret Code" and "Golf".

First games I bought myself were 4 ZX Spectrum games, bought in one go with my birthday money:

Everyone's a Wally
...and a fourth one that I can never remember, but it might have been "Soft Aid"

Jungle Hunt for the Atari XL600.

Before i could even buy a game for the pc i had to save up a year and choose between a soundcard and a cdromplayer so paying for pc-games wasn't really on my mind back then.
Nowadays i pick up those games i liked from the 5 euro-bin just for nostalgia.
