Hmm but when is the birthday/year of BlitzBasic? The Wiki only talks about the win version and not about the initial Amiga version.

Blitz Research is currently working on a next-generation 3D engine which will feature an easy-to-use command API similar to but more advanced than that of Blitz3D. The module will be designed to provide a cross-platform 3D graphics API, bringing official 3D support to Mac and Linux. The module is rumored to be initially based on OpenGL with possibly later support for DirectX on Windows. It is also said to be similar to the Blitz3D SDK in that initially it will provide an interface for the BlitzMax language and later provide access from other languages such as C or a derivative thereof.

There we go, according to back2roots it's 1990 by Mark Sibly / Memory and Storage Technology.
'Memory and Storage Technology' is bringing back fuzzy memories. I no longer have the original (the thing that I think is BB1) as I didn't really get into it and I think I was using HiSoft's Power Basic that came out a few months before it.
Does anyone actually have the original? I seem to remember it arriving in a plastic bag with like a cardboard top - a bit like what toy soldiers were packed in.

Similar sort of packaging - but obviously thin. I remember a very thin pamphlet that came with it.
Not sure if I am remembering the original Blitz or not. Anyone recollect how it was packaged?
In fact, can anyone upload a picture of it?
This has bugged me for many years now. Not sure if I really had BB1 or whether it was the pre-release bb2.
My first actual documented memories of Blitz begin in 1991; pre the BB2 v1 launch. However, the year 1990 niggles me like I am forgetting something.
I wish I still had whatever it was that arrived.
Either this one or the original BB1 was a tiny little advert in a computer magazine - one of those sort of inch by half an inch block adverts.
Memory tells me it was 1992 when the world sat up and noticed. I think a lot of UK Blitzers fell in love with it via an AF demo.

I am on the case - I have just dug up a few dozen Amiga mags for 1990 and 1991. I would assume the advert is in one of them - assuming I have found all of the ones I bought.
