When I ran my Ad-Aware updater today, it said I could download Ad-Aware Plus for just $9.95 or circa £6.72. So, I went ahead and bought it.

It is a 1 year licence.

A 1 year licence is normally $26.95 - so it is a good saving.

I have been using the free version for years. Now I read it doesn't detect viruses. Strange for an anti-virus program named anti-vir. ;) Anyway works great for me even if it doesn't detect them.

Edit: Oops this is not about anti-vir, but Ad-aware. I don't know how I got them mixed up. Well they both start with an A.

So maybe anti-vir does protect against viruses. All's well that ends well!

I don't particuarly think much of the new real-time features of the full version. Prefer Spybot.

Glad I didn't pay full price for it.

Still, it will probably be better at scanning than the free version.

Puki: the scanning engine is pretty much identical between the free and payware version IIRC, the only significant differences are the scheduling and real-time scanning abilities.
