Where can I buy some good 3D Models?(pref horror)

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Where can I buy some good 3D Models?(pref horror)

GREETINGS!

Do any of you know where I can download some quality 3D
models with animations included?(Preferably horror type models)

Because after I'm done with my top secret 2D project, which will
eclipse all of my previous so called, 'games', I am going to begin
work on a 3D survival horror game. And I am in need of models
for my game!

Mainly undead, like skeletons, zombies, ghosts, and all the other
usual stuff, but also some human villager models, and a warrior\mage
for the hero.

I googled it, and found this site http://www.3drt.com/
which looks pretty good, but if you know of any more I would
certainly appreciate it ^_^

Thanks Mortals!

I wonder the same. Unfortunately, many of the models offered for sale here on the forums are only in the B3D format.

I don't mind if they are in B3D format, thats what I'm using anyways.

Also a slight edit to my last post. After doing a bit of searching around
on google, I realized that 3D models are rather expensive :(

So I would appreciate it if anyone could find some sites that offer
acceptably good 3D models that are inexpensive!

TurboSquid.com?

Werdna, you should try visiting http://www.jandscreations.com

Here you go, free models from TurboSquid.

http://www.turbosquid.com/Search/Artists/theQiwiMan

Psionic offers some free models too. Get the zombie.

When buying or using "free" media ( models, texture, etc) always read the license as you may find your self in a tricky situation. One example is Total Textures (http://www.3dtotal.com/) where you can use the textures in your games provided that they are stored in a format that cannot be easily read except by your game. This also includes any texture that is derived from the original.
If possible it may be best to contact the author/artist to find out about licensing.

Just checked some of the links that you guys provided,
and I'm afraid none of them really helped!
(Although thanks for listing them!)

Psionic3D doesn't offer much that is any use to me.
(The zombie was unusable. My game is more kind of medievel.
So I need zombies to fit that time period.)

TurboSquid looks ok, but too expensive.

And Jandcreations doen'st offer much at all!
(Although free models are always a plus!)

Do you know of any sites that offer 3D models for sell that are
less than 30$?

Or is that being unrealistic?

Should I just learn to do my own models?

Thanks if you can answer any of these questions, and Thanks again
for your previous help!

Yes you are being unrealistic if you expect to find low poly (game ready) animated, textured, 3d models that suit your specific game for under $30 (US I assume) each.

You could learn to do your own, they will probably look like rubbish at first if you've not made 3d models before, or animated humanoid figures, or painted textures.

You could hire someone to do it for you, but that will cost much much more than $30 - some people may charge that amount per hour at minimum and might require many hours to make what you are after.

There are other ways though, daz3d sells high quality poser models which can be rendered as images and then used on sprites? They are quite cheap (in my opinion).

It depends on whether you are willing to throw money at the problem to solve it (hire someone) or throw time at it (learn how to make 3d stuff yourself).

You can find some in the tutorials I think.

Ok thanks for your help ^_^

I'll just learn to make my own I think. Since I'm not yet selling my
games, I really can't afford to spend much money on models.

My survival horror game will just have to wait for now :(

I'll probably try making a 3D Battery Man instead :)
I would really like to redeem myself for how badly the 2D version
turned out. It was a cute idea and a fun project, but very badly
executed game play wise.

Thanks again for your help everyone! and a demo of my newest game
will be available for download soon ^_^

I think you'll be lucky to find anyone doing fully textured, animated meshes for under £120. Last time i checked that was :o) Learn to do something yourself, like animating or texturing, then all you need is the mesh done, which will reduce the cost significantly :o)

Welcome to the world of game development Werdna, if you think big, you need plenty of money and/or time.

My advice would be to revise your project a little, see whats out there (Notice the cheap cartoon pack on the boards) and work from there.... You then can start building your game, and update your media as you go, if needed.

Otherwise, you'll end up like 80% of us and fanny on until the end of time without so much as a scrat of progress! :D

Dabz

LOL.

Thanks for the advice!

And If you are thinking of modeling your own creations then hears a little tutorial I found http://www.3dtotal.com/team/Tutorials/benmathis/benmathis_1.asp that may help.
