Retro Remakes compo

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Retro Remakes compo

I was thinking of entering a little 3D Deathchase remake I've been working on for fun over the past couple of days - anyone else here entering?

I'm using Fasttext on the screen and also some of the blur effects code from the archives here - are these things allowed to be used in the competition?

The rules state that you can use pre-made libs etc.. but no code "specific to the game you are making" so I assume that a generic blur effect and text libs are OK to use?

yeah that'd be in the spirit of the competition as far as i'm concerned, not that i'm a judge.

I am working on a retro game at the moment that I only just started, but it's ready when it's ready and uses whatever I want to use - if it happens to conform to competition rules and is ready in time I might enter it.

EDIT: Just looked at the dealine on the competition, I definitely wont be making that.

The signup date is December the 2nd and the closing date is 13th December, which my Deathchase game might be finished by - I think I'll signup just in case it is completed.

There's a really long thread here from a month ago or so, and a lot of people are entering, including myself.

I just need to get motivated to finish it up, I kind of burnt out on it when it first started.

Well I've only recently noticed the competition exists so I've only got about 2 weeks before the deadline - fortunately the game I've picked is very simple, but even so it's not long.

I am a judge for the Retro Remakes competition and the libs/code you mentioned isn't game specific, so that would be fine :)

Good luck to all that enter.

Cool, thanks!

It's quite nice to be working on a simpler game - I've been working away at Stunt Race Xtreme for what must be more than 5 years now and I'm not sure it's any closer to being finished now than it was 3 years ago, but for this game I have a working gameflow (including my first ever front end!!!) within 2 days...such a change from normal.
