I hope PC World have not gone bust

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/I hope PC World have not gone bust

Their website has been down for a day.

I suggest a Blitzer head to their nearest store and report back.

Off you go then ;-)

Well, they're still advertising constantly on TV, so...

[edit]Their site works fine here. Maybe they've banned your IP. :P

[edit]Also, Gordy Brown is rumoured to be cutting VAT to 15% on Monday so prolly worth holding off buying anything until then.

pc world closing down, isnt that in the book of revelations as a precursor to the four horsemen?

Mmm, I cannot access them via IE or FF.

I would have had several IPs since last night.

I want to check on my order.

Sounds like a DNS problem. Sort it out immediately!

they know you are puki and that you have stolen the interweb for yourself and now you are paying the price

Mmm, just came back on for me- isn't that odd?

"puki" will follow the trail that the mice left behind.

game.co.uk doesn't work for me. Sod PC World.

If it's an IP issue, grab a web proxy off http://proxyfreelist.com and try surfing the site through that.

did u got it today? :)

I highly doubt PC World will ever go bust. Their staff are mostly untrained about what they sell, their prices are too high, and the shop is always full of people you KNOW don't really know much about what they are buying.

Tell me about it. They tried to sell me a wireless antenna for my router which seemed to have a completely different and incompatible end connector. When I explained that the connector looks bigger and will not fit, the guy replied, "that cable is the antennas mains cable I fink(?)"

Somehow I suspect plugging it into the mains would have turned it into a light saber

> and the shop is always full of people you KNOW don't really know much about what they are buying

My store tends to be full of employees constantly asking, "are you alright there sir? " as soon as I look remotely interested in something. One day I am going to say, "actually no, I just died 20 minutes ago so I am just passing through to pick up a Wifi laptop to take with me to 'heaven'. I hope the signal strength is good up there"

My store tends to be full of employees constantly asking, "are you alright there sir? " as soon as I look remotely interested in something.

That doen't happen to me: they just totally ignore me and then when I'm not interested in any thing they say those imortal words "CAN I HELP YOU WITH ANY THING".

I do belive now that they give me a wide birth as the last time I actually got some assistance: I knew more than they did ;-).

And isn't PC ripp off owned by Currys?

Hahaha!

heh, might happen yet.

DSG International, owner of Currys and PC World, today announced it is scrapping its dividend after plunging into the red during the first six months of the year and warned that trading remained "tough and volatile".

The company, which has £149.5 million worth of debt, said today it is compliant with its financial covenants at the first half point, and had £300 million in undrawn bank facilities.

I guess a lot depends on how bad things get over the next few months since many think were just at the beginning. Interested to see what happens to Woolys.
