Request: Looking for Group Forum Section

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Request: Looking for Group Forum Section

We need a "Looking for Group" forum section. To encourage and help facilitate people to join small teams to build games using Blitz products.

There should be a sticky at the start of the section saying all requersts should adhere to the following:

All projects must be coded using a Blitz Research product (Blitz3D, BlitzPlus, BlitzMax), where as tools for the project can be in anything.

All software used must be fully licenced (as to stop bad press should projects do well and get noticed by the games press).

All games project proposals must satisfy these guide lines:

Language use: Blitz3D, BlitzMax
Game genre:FPS,RTS,MMORPG,Arcade shooter, etc....
Multiplayer: yes/no
Platforms: PC/Mac/Linux
Graphics: 2D/3D
Expected Development time: 1 month / 6 months / 2 years / etc....
Positions filled:e.g. Developer, 3D modeller
Positions vacant:e.g. Texture artist, Pixel Artist, Musician, GUI Designer/Coder.
Location of Personel: Developer(Cambridge, UK), 3D Modeller(Newcastle, UK)
etc...

Is this a good idea? Is there already a popular indie programming site that has this?

Yes it's a good idea...almost..too good..hmmmmm.

Not for Blitz I don't think, but gamedev have a forum cunningly titled "Help Wanted".

You could ask Qube over on Stinkbomb if BRL don't reply.

Great idea :o)

Great idea.

Good idea, but I doubt Mark/Simon would go for it.

I think this ia good idea for Blitz Research, rather than have teams get together on other forums where they'll be more of a draw to use another language.

Forum go-ers are the least motivated home coders in the world, it's the last place you should be looking for a team mate to build a game with! They're all too busy talking about coding to actually do any :)

Well where should non-forum goers go then?

um, yeah, where should I go to find my World of Warcraft clone team??!!! ;-P

You'd just end up with a zillion "I need a programmer, an artist, and a musician to help me make a cool RPG! You'll get paid royalties when we sell it!" posts.

Yes, but only popular posts would stay at the top, and posts older than six months can be deleted.

Or, you can't start a post until you have at leat 100 posts already on blitz forums.

It's quite possible to just use General Discussion for this kind of thread atm.

Speaking of which I don't see many "I need a programmer, etc" threads around, hmm, maybe they're all just waiting for a "Looking for Group" forum to appear.

Plus, if you have been round here for a while, you have a rough idea of who to avoid.

They're all too busy talking about coding...

Now now...

When was the last time you actually saw anyone around here talking about programming?

I take offence to that, bastards :)
