Creative X-Fi sound card problem?

I need to find out if a PC has a X-Fi Gamer card in it but I cannot open it up as it will void the warranty. In the device manager the card just says X-Fi Audio Processor (which is why I am curious). Is there a nother way to tell if this is the correct card? What do other peoples PC`s say that have this card?

Any advice would be great.

what sort of pc is that? theyre designed to be openned and any maker that says different is being unreasonable.

I've never known a pre-built PC (ie retail) company that will let you open the case and keep warranty. Not in Aus, at least...

If you go to the device manager, then to the properties of the device in question, then to details: look under "hardware IDs"

That will give you a device identifier, something like this:
USB\VID_046D&PID_0990&REV_0007&MI_02

(ignore the actual data, this one happens to be my webcam)

I can see that the 046D is logitech. following that link it shows a list of different device ID's, and it identifies the 0990 as a Logitech Pro 9000 USB camera.
Every product is supposed to be assigned a different ID by the manufacturer, so it may give you more info than what's listed in the device manager.

PC sellers used to say you couldnt open the pc's here years ago, until they were told it was illegal to so and the warranty had to be honoured regardless unless it was clear the user had broken the pc.

Smilertoo: that may not apply in all countries, of course.
