Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Had Anyone Play Mame/Sega/Ninendo Emu on PSP?

Hiya all,

I just follow the instructions from http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=gQ5fVgg5PQA on how put Sega Emulator to my PSP. When I press O button to start the Sega Emulator on my Jap psp.

It say "The game Could not be Started (80020148)"

How can I fixed that as I want to play Sega/Ninendo/Mame Emulator on my psp Please.

cheers

P.S. I did also send same topic to sony homebrew forum but no reply from them yet

I assume you already have a hacked rom on your PSP, the firmware must be a hacked version to eneable to you use homebrew.

As andy_mc stated you need a modded PSP to play any homebrew or other ROM. This is pretty easy and all you need is a Pandora battery tool and a custom firmware to be able to play any homebrew (or other) ROM. Takes a few minutes to sort out. Look on Google for further details.

I have download FIRMWARE 3.90 and it was loading which was great but then it say "The game could not be started (80020148)" sigh!

80020148 = PRX type unsupported what does that mean?

Just because you have downloaded the firmware, doesn't mean your PSP is capable of using it.

Is your PSP modded? Have you got or used a Pandora battery?

If the answer is no to either, then you probably can't run any homebrew or other ROM software. You need to mod your PSP before you can run homebrew software such as emulators and modding requires more than just the firmware.

modding requires more than just the firmware.

Actually it depends on the version of the firmware you currently have. I got a 1.50 version PSP and was able to install custom firmware iwth no special battery or anything. But I think that's all changed with the newer versions of the firmware.

Only very old/original PSPs were capable of modding without the battery trick. If the PSP is British (which I am presuming), then that was only available for just a few months at most before you couldn't mod it without using Pandora.

I am going out on a limb here and guessing that HotShot's PSP is not capable of running the firmware or homebrew without modding.

I have bought a Pandora Battery and it will arrived few days and I cant wait!
My PSP is JAP PSP which I bought it when first came out and it is Amazing PSP!
