Hiya all,
Last week, I sold my 18 PS 3 games and man from ebay send a pay pal moneys through but it was on hold. He was saying that the pay pal have hold my big moneys but not him. I think he is abit of con man as I never had any problem when come to buying or selling ebay stuff.
So last week, He keep pesting me to send the games and I arent stupid as I told him....you either send the moneys pay pal through to me to make sure I got the moneys before I send the item to you.
So in the end...he ask for refund and I give him refund. He also say he wont bid my 18 ps 3 games again...I said fair enough and that was understandable.
Now I decide to relist my 18 PS 3 games again on ebay and guess what....Annyoned Con man bid my 18 PS 3 again which start to piss me off and I want to BAN him because it seem like he want to F*** me around and I am not having that!
The question is very simple...How do I BAN Ebay Con man?
So if I ban him then he wont able to bid my items but there is loophole...he could register another one with new nickname and bid on mine which make no win situation! sigh
Let him bid- he may make you money if someone outbids him.
Could be a reason why the PayPal transfer never went through.
Go to help and search for 'block a bidder' you can enter as many user names as you want, delimited by commas, and they will be unable to buy now or place bids on any of your auctions

Well, you could give him a second chance but say that the funds must clear via PayPal first.
Any nonsense from him then hand over his address and we will go round and chin him.
I told him to send me cheq and I will send the games otherwise the deal is off and I going to relist it again but this time I have block him on block bidder! lol
Is a cheque safe - I thought they can bounce after you have cashed them?

A cheque takes about 8 working days to fully clear. It will appear to clear after 3 days but funds can still be bounced.
Still, if you send the goods you will have an address - then we can go round - we'll have his name and address.
heh I've never had any experience of paypal holding any payments in either direction. Does seem a big fishy to me :(
If I want something quick I do a direct debit from my bank account through paypal.
Whether it's cheque or PayPal, make sure the funds are in your account before sending the games. Simple as that.
Don't ban the guy - PayPal can sometimes take a while to clear funds for reasons that you or the buyer are unaware of. It may be that his email address is not the one listed or his address hasn't been confirmed. He may be new to the PayPal way. Give him a chance - it might not be his fault. I've had several instances where this has occurred (when selling), but it's always been sorted within a day or two.
Just don't send ANYTHING, until you've got the payment in your account.
Is it a paypal Cheque he is paying with? These can take 10 or more days to clear and are a right PITA.

He is not new to pay pal as he had about over 5,000 feedback but he does have lots of negative feedback I am afraid!
he want to pay in Pay pal but I think he is putting moneys in hold and he saying it is the pay pal is holding my moneys and I dont believe him!
Paypal has one way of paying that puts the funds on hold for a week or so, tell him it will ship when the funds clear and not before then. If he does not agree then go with the blocking method.

First: A cheque will clear when the issueing bank clears it. Usually a bank will immediately insert the amount into your account while refering to their terms of service where it says that if it doesn't clear they take the money again.
Second: An international cheque can take months to clear, but the bank will still insert the amount into your account while reserving the right to withdraw it if the cheque doesn't clear. This is what the Nigeria Scams are all about. You get a $1000 check to pay for an $800 item and send the remaining $200 to Nigeria using Western Union. Then you send that used laptop to Nigeria as well, and 2 months later the bank take the $1000 as the check was fake.
Best bet is to get him to send you a postal order, no cheques or paypal. Once you've cashed the postal order there is no way he can get the money back. Once you have the cash in your hand, then send the games.
If he's genuine, he should have no problems sending you a postal order.

You can reply to his comments, detailing the problems you had with him. If you have plenty good feedback, i wouldn't worry about it.
Again, wait for the money to get in your bank before you send the item out.

That's still only less than 98% positive. I won't deal with anybody on ebay who has less than 99.8%.
Anyway, instead of branding somebody a conman, why don't you... oh I dunno... email Paypal and ask them what this "on hold" means? If it *is* a problem with your paypal account, you're going to look like a right tit now.
From what I can see, it's PayPal, not the buyer that were giving you the runaround. I can understand why both you and he got narked.

I just sold an iPhone not long ago and for the first time ever Paypal held the funds until it was confirmed delivered. I think it is a relatively new policy as I have been selling for years on eBay.

Its not YOUR money until the buyer gets the goods, as equaly the goods are not his UNTIL you get the money.
Paypal have simply improved there "holding" policy sso that athough the seller has released the funds, YOU dont get the money until he gets the goods.
It maybe that hes trying to con you. However its equaly possible that he thinks YOU are the con man. As flame said either use a real escrow service or just put up with paypals one.
As a side note you post here to call him a conman for claiming paypal was holding the money in escrow, when you could simpl yhave contacted paypal and asked them.

Over here, I "think" ebay (which owns paypal) has restricted paypal as the only option for payments. Besides their crackdown on sellers leaving negative comments on buyers they also implemented the "hold" to help sellers who were sending out produucts and then having to deal with chargebacks. Once the hold is released on the funds (after the person gets the product) it is much harder for the buyer to try and do a chargeback or claim "fraud".
The problem seems to be that Hotshot2005 is not familiar with the TOS of eBay which is continually changing abd being updated. They send you those email notices about policy changes for a reason, and you really should take the time to actually read them.

Yes. eBay doesn't dictate how you negotiate payment. Certainly they promote pay pal heavily for the reason you state (they own paypal)
But they can't tell you how to exchange funds.

No. Ebay's FAQ is pretty clear about it and states checks and money orders are no longer allowed. It now lists only PayPal, ProPay or requires the seller to have a merchant account with a credit card company to process the charges. They are quite speciic about no longer allowing third-party checkout solutions.
People really need to keep updated with ebay policies and this thread is a perfext example of why. Hotshot2005 is out of line and calling a buyer a conman because Hotshot2005 is unwilling to abide by the terms he agreed to when he signed up for ebay and paypal. It is easy to see who the conman is in this transaction. Sellers like this are why ebay has had to crack down and implement changes to protect buyers.
*edit* As I said before though, it does depend on where you live.
You will find the majority of info on that site refers to PayPal before they were bought by eBay.

Whoa....I been Pay pal and ebay for Years and I never had single problem but I didnt know Pay Pal and ebay have changed now!!!
