real time radiosity

If they managed to implement it, why aren't we seeing indie engine developers do it? Is it something that is hard to do? need to know special mathematics to do it?

I've seen their sales pitch at the last GDC in San Francisco. It's nothing more than a cool toy. They didn't have any "real" demos. Only videos (nothing shown truly realtime) of small scenes (10K tris max, 1 single light source) with either 1 or no characters.

Looks interesting.. Weird music in the workflow video.

That looks really impressive.
Crysis showed already what can be done with real time lighting, this even seems to get one step further.

Real time lighting will be the future of gaming. It's not only about the look of things, but the efficiency in creating a realistic lighted environment.

I have just discovered that this tech is going to be used in the eve-online 'walking in stations' feature. For more videos on this tech search on you tube for 'eve online, walking in stations'.

wow shagwana, that is interesting. I would love to see this spread and become available to all even indies. What do you think about it?

I think the problem is just that you need a pretty high spec system which probably doesn't make it worth the trouble yet. But it's definately going to be something to look out for in the future.

As gosse said, it has been around since quite some time and it's kind of too early yet, at least if you care about such things like a realistic hardware installed userbase.

most studios actually use enlighten for pre baking lightmaps, as it does it great. It isn't actually used in consoles for realtime lighting yet.
