Game name

..i dont know about you guys, but i really suck big time by coming out with some nice name for game im on to (its time for web site)..how you usually define what name should be suitable for your games? Game im on to is mix between Tomb Raider and Dreamfall, placed in to some fantasy world..im totally out of any ideas..

How about 'Planet Zuul'? Something like that. It rhymes with cool.

You can always name it like the games on BigFish. "Adventures of "Main Character": Name of the Fantasy World". It is also good if you are going to make sequels.

..thats ok, what i actually ment is, how you guys creating your game names..i mean, what would you take as a reference for it..for example, many comercial games names, sounds totally detached from game itself, regarding whats going on in there..but somehow, blending nicely with it..having said that, im totally stuck with it and everything i came across sounds more cheap than czech porn on pirate market on crappy videoCD quality...

Scrotum Attack... this will work for any game, even a game without any scrotums in it. Huh! If such a game even exists.

I've never made a game so I don't know what process developers go through but I don't think it's that complicated, just have fun and be creative and avoid copyright/trademark names, like Hujiklo. :)

I start with an idea of what I want to make a game about, e.g. Penpals, then stick with it even if the game becomes something completely different.

Code a name generator which combines multiple strings. Make a list of possible words. I don't know if the outcome will suit your game but you will have a lot of fun :D

Something like that happened with space games and sci-fi series... Stargate, Farscape, Fargate, Starscape.

Rake

I use the most important elements from the game itself and try to come up with a pun or spin around that.

Examples -

RockRush (Boulderdash clone - can be interpretted as "rock crush")

B'lox! - A block moving game that'll have you swearing

Off The Mortal Coil - You are the Grim Reaper and have to remove people from their "mortal coils"

Night Of The Lemming Dead (WIP) - a silhouetted Lemmings clone, with zombie Lemmings

Impassable Mission - Impossible Mission remake

Pang'd - One switch Pang! style game

Battle Cards - Top Trumps style game

Dark....something usually sounds cool

To name the game maybe look at your target demographic and what kinds of people they are and what they would find appealing and then use that to name the game, rather than trying to name it based on its own merits.

Hmm, ok let's see, Planet Boobys?
