OK, I'm damn expert with Google but even I have found it impossible to wade through all the rubbish you get when looking for a free utility to crack a ZIP password.
Yes, I was clever enough to back up some files into a passworded zip that I can't sodding well remember! Duh.
Does anyone have/know where I can find a free recovery util? Zippass is going to take forever to brute-force it.

You'll require a brute force method. If you can remember roughly what the password may have been then certain software may be able to take it from there and expand on that.
However if you've used non dictionary words and / or numeric values then your only hope is to go for long term brute force, i.e. keep a decent cracking programme going for months.
I forgot a password to a zip file a while back and nothing I could find on the net could work out the password within 24hrs. Luckily I remembered what the password was (alpha and numeric). So good luck :)
