Question about Ultimate Unwrap 3D.

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Question about Ultimate Unwrap 3D.

I'm new to this 3D scene so I have a question to get a better understanding.

I created a simple model in Wings3D and now I want to add a texture to it. Can Ultimate Unwrap 3D be used for this?

Also what other packages I need to have as a beginner.

I chose:
Wings3D - for modeling
? - for mapping/texturing

I want to get into animation later but all I want to do right now is just to learn how to model and apply some textures to and import it into BlitzMax.

You're not clear on what you mean by "add a texture" to it. Ultimate Unwrap is used to define how a texture is applied to the model. IE: Which parts of the image are displayed on which parts of the model. It is not used to create a texture or for painting on your model.

Can Ultimate Unwrap 3D be used for this

Yes, this is its main purpose.
As Gabriel said you will need also a painting program to create the textures you will use with Ultimate Unwrap 3D

Yeah, that's what I wanted to know. If I had a texture that is created in a paint program; I could then use Ultimate Unwrap 3D to apply the texture to my model.

Are there any freeware program that apply textures to models.
I know Ultimate Wrap 3D is $60. I just wanted to make sure I don't buy a bunch of tools and not use them.

Wings3D itself can do UV unwrapping and texturing. Some links below:-
