Logo for sale

A few months ago a guy (I don't remember his name) was asking for a game logo. We exchanged some e-mails and I promised that I would help him. I finished the logo but he never answered to my e-mails.
Because the final result is quite good with clean design and professional appearance, if someone is looking for a logo I can sell it in a very reasonable price.
Because the file format is .cdr (Corel Draw file) I can convert to any file format you like.

where is it??

Boy, this sounds really great. Where do I send a check?

Why would anyone want to buy someone else's game logo? Isn't it too specific to be easily transferable?

Will you make me the game to go with it? Or am I buying a completely useless logo?

I am sorry for my mistake, but the logo is not for a game but for a company name. The name currently is 'Jelly Fish Games' (this can be changed)

Moraldi, you must realise this is a bizarre post.
Why would somebody want to buy the concept for a logo for somebody else's company?
What if my company was Concrete Rabbit Armchairs rather than Jelly Fish Games? Would the concept fit?
What sort of price would you expect to be reasonable?
I apologise if there is a huge marketplace for unused logos but I just don't understand how you think you can sell it.
I understand why you might not want to post the concept but is it THAT unique it's not something that has been used before? If you're worried about people stealing it then a) How are you going to show it on ebay b) stick a copyright notice on it

Well, if you mean that it must be visually associative with what you're selling, then I agree.

Making logos is not my job. I spent time and collaborated with a professional artist to produce this logo. Now lies on my hard drive and I thought that it could be useful to someone.
I sell this logo for 100€ while prices for this type of work starts from 500€. It is a reasonable amount of money.

About your offer, I know that you have invested yout time and efforts, but I think it will be very hard for you, with no background experience on this kind of job, receive the money you ask.

I'd suggest posting up a watermarked copy of the logo. Nobody's going to show any interest in this at all if they don't at least have a rough idea of what they are potentially buying.

It's hard enough to sell stuff on the interweb even when you provide full information.

May I send your comments to Big Fish Games and say that this is your opinion about their company name?

The 'Jelly Fish' was not my choice. It was a prerequisite

Anyway, the only one that's any good is the bottom left one - at least it looks like whoever did it made some degree of effort. The jellyfish in the other five are beyond crude.

This is so wierd?! and tbh thats a pretty poor logo, I could gen that up in about 4 mins in Photoshop....100 Euros, for someone elses logo and name.....?

... so, for my Concrete Rabbit Armchair example you would change the Jellyfish to an Armchair, and replace Jelly Fish text with Concrete Armchair?

I think your first follow-up post should have been "Yeah, I know! It's a long shot but somebody might be interested" instead of trying to convince a bunch of grumpy old cynics that a logo made specifically around a JellyFish theme is easily portable.

I think they're 'OK' and would probably have come up with something close to the middle left if given the task... without much effort or collaborating with a professional artist. <edit>... and being ham-fisted and unartistic.

I don't think you've got any risk of anyone stealing that Moraldi. I was expecting something clean and professional looking, as it is, I have to follow the general consensus of it being 'ok'.

You couldn't 'design' the sun logo in 2 minutes, the point of it is that it's not obvious, and it's 'designed'. The sun logo is a clean professional diagrammatic design featuring the letter S, which would work in monochrome, colour, in print, on screen, embossed in casings etc... It does not use blurring, gradient fills or bright colours.

To the original poster. Nobody buys a company logo, but people do buy corporate ID's. Where a companies entire visual and graphical representation is designed, and I do meen designed, from web site skins to logos for print and screen, taglines developed, marketting brochures produced etc etc. That level of professionalism is above most of the indie developer scene and mostly irrelevent to it.

Most of the folk here have some creativity or artistic talent, or work in a team that does. Anyone making a game will be producing tens or hundreds of megabytes of game media, they're quite capable of knocking up a logo too.

They're capable of animating it, of posing it, of designing something that is good in monocrome and colour, in print and on screen, in 2D and in 3D.

It's like trying to take a game idea to EA - they've got hundreds of programmers all with a million and one game ideas that never get realised (we'll leave the bitter debate about what does get realised for another thread sometime), the last thing they want to hear is somebodies idea for a game as it could then result in IP claims.

The last thing anybody wants is somebody elses creative content. You may aswell be selling bad debts to a banker.

Except for Puki who plagurises everything. I hear his new company is called "Preview Jelly Fish Games". ;P

Moraldi, My opinion was not aggressive. We are, mostly, a indie community, with short budget for our stuff. I think 100-500 US$ for a logo is too much for us, and we have another choices. I appreciate your work and efforts.

I just wanted to note that if I am not talented, as I am in 2D and 3D, then I cannot do something attractive even if I own the best application.
When I posted the preview I was ready to receive bad comments. This is the beauty of public forums. :)

Who would pay for a logo? You guys don't even have ms paint skills?

I did the grey alien games logo for a steal, I can't remember how much I charged. £30 or something.

the point. I do however fail to see the commercial value of this.

As for grey getting his logo for £30, impressively cheap. Last time i did a
commercial logo, i charged £800 for it - having said that, it was more complex than the grey alien design logo.. well, they actually got two designs.. so you could say £400..
Created cusomized icons - for large app = £1000 - about £10 per icon..

bollox to £30 :p
