Microsoft Tinker

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Microsoft Tinker

In case you've no idea what I'm talking about your probably need to look here and here.

Anyone else playing around with this neat little freebie from Microsoft?

I quite like it, the puzzles scale up quite nicely and the artwork and themes are rather nice.

It's got the same kind of vibe as Wall-E but much more retro.

Makes a nice to change to see MS doing something a little more original than solitare.

This game surely qualifies as a commercial quality casual game, in the vein of old mindbending puzzle games such as Contraptions Zack, and as far as I know it's an original idea too. I was very surprised when I tried it as an extra, and it's really a good change from the other ones offered with Vista. Since it supports custom levels, I think we could even expect some new packs in the future...

I take it Tinker is for Vista only?

Vista Ultimate only. It's one of the Ultimate Extras. That's more of a download restriotion than a technical restriction though.

.

- microsoft - sorry to rant - but i really hate vista. might be good with
half of the security + eye candy features switched off - but then, your
left with a service packed version of xp - heh...pointless - sorry, but
i really didnt see the need for vista..

heh...pointless

Like the post? it's a topic about Tinker.

Defoc, if you still aren't clued in as to the benefits Vista has (which is certainly more than a Service Pack but arguable as to its value to any randomly selected individual), then stick with your 6 year old technology and be happy.

I installed vista and it's a huge upgrade. Much nicer looking, but also far faster to draw the desktop.

I have one problem with it and thats that Wacom decided to not support my 12 year old Wacom tablet, they didn't want to bother with older tablets that use the serial port :(. Annoying because the tablet mostly works with the XP drivers, only the config tool doesn't and theres no pressure or tilt.

I had a quick go with tinker and it's not bad if you want a quick go at something different than the usualy 2D puzzles you normaly get with windows.

I apologise for ranting in this thread. Impolite, and perhaps a little
childish. Then again - the fact that you bother to reply to my post,
emphasising my post over the original...is not entirely mature either..
especially given the nature of your reply, which is quite offensive(Hotcakes) - as true as it might be :p .

again - i apologise to darkheart for the original rant.

Offensive? OK I take it back, if you're happy with XP you can kiss my butt. Sorry for telling you to be happy.
