gah!!! That's the type of game that kills a whole evening!
Pah. I got stuck on 'up the stairs', skipped to the last level, which was way easy and the game doesn't go anywhere after that. =]

Tomtoad, that's very similar to my idea. The level name "mission to mars" immediatly makes you think of throwing something from one orbit to another, so you know you'll need a rotating base to swing the ball from.
I'm stuck in the level where a big ball falls onto the target area before you get to it. I'm trying a solution using rotators on the front of my vehicle to push this ball up out the way but it's not quite working.
I tried that and failed miserably, but have seen a version where that is possible provided you have enough force behind you (wheels. lots of wheels). I also tried catapults but I can't make one that doesn't suck.
This is great and bonkers!
My Mission to Mars contraption worked first time which gave me a rare feeling of "Get in there!!!!"

I am also stuck on the big ball, I tried to make a bulldozer to lift the ball out but I can't get enough grip or lifting power. ATM I'm looking at lobbing an object to delfect the ball but I'm not doing well with accuracy...

That big ball level is one that's had me stumped. Think I might be pinching your design, andy.

My solution to
"Four Balls" man that was tough. Had a great sense of achievement when got all four balls in though. What I really like about this is every person's solution is going to be different, even if only in quite small details but often in a large way, I doubt anyone else has solved that problem exactly the same way as me. I'm calling mine "The sphincter" ;).

Darkheart - I like your solution for "Handling". Your "Down Under" solution is nice and simple as well.
I have a tendency to use transport, which I'm trying to break and use more catapults, slings etc.

It's not that hard really, but it's my first :)
It says I can't look at that unless I pay $10. :/
...and that one doesn't work! It just drops over the edge without touching the goal.
On my screen, after waiting for a while the small ball (on the chain) goes over the edge and then swings into the goal area, completing the level.

I installed a new Flash player (version 9.0.124.0) a few days ago.
I have 9.0.124.0 as well.
Hmm. Maybe different CPUs are producing tiny differences in some floating point calcs, accumulating into a chaotic effect?
I've noticed some bugs as well: solutions not working, wrong levels coming up when selected etc. I suspect that there are some variances in CPU maths processing. I was wondering if that was an issue, and is a likely cause.

I like your "Mind the Gap" and "On A Roll" solutions, very elegant. I think you need quite a fast CPU to run this well. For people with slow CPU's maybe some of those "only just" solutions are not registering.

Hmm, no don't think so, I've artificially slowed my machine down and I've only noticed jerkiness and slowness, not inaccuracy.

Beaker's solution that I mentioned yesterday is nothing to do with speed - the game runs very quickly, yet it misses the goal by a country mile.

Pretty ingenious! The first link you posted doesn't work though, the last ball gets stuck for me as well.

A completely different take on Four Balls. The original idea was introduced to me by a friend but I had to tweak it quite a bit to get it to work. It's still ugly and unrefined, but it works:

It doesn't get there for me...
It may because of the physics.. like.. on Half-Life 2, if you drop a ball onto the ground, it usually doesn't bounce the same way each time.
I ran it three times and it failed in exactly the same way each time. There seems to be some difference in calculations between machines, but ultimately I'm sorry; if it doesn't work on every machine 100% of the time, it's not a great solution, no matter how fancy getting to the other side is =]

Absolutely love it! Brilliant game of its kind! I always dig those...wasn't there a crayon thing of sorts?
