It claims to be Blitz3D.

I suggest a Russian Blitzer spill the beans and supply a report.

Very cool!

Very cool!

Not really.

Who the hell wants an FPS where all you can do is throw boxes around? Wish I had £1 for every "FPS" I'd seen over the years that has no NPCs in it. I'd have about £9.

Even the physics are rubbish. Watch the bit with all the boxes at the end.

That is awesome! Especially the blue, electric, slow-gravity, ball!

Have you played Portal? It received numerous GOTY awards and had no NPC's only puzzles. This looks like it's based on Portal but with different toys.

Despite being nagged about it every time I install graphics card drivers, no.

I don't consider knocking over stacks of boxes and piling them up again to be 'puzzles'. That's all that seemed to be happening and its hardly MENSA stuff, is it?

GfK, how much are they paying you to be official forum curmudgeon?

MENSA is for only-just-above-average dullards anyway. Anything more taxing than the puzzles in Portal is just going to alienate the vast majority of players, because they're too dumb to figure it out.

What are you, the forum police? I always say what I think, otherwise what's the point? Unlike some I'm not going to crawl up people's backsides just for popularity. Although if I did that you'd only call me a sycophant anyway.

If you don't agree that's fine, but I'm sure you could manage to say so without throwing childish insults about. Grow up.

Just a friendly reminder: Cultivating a positive attitude is essential for success - everyone who's made a ton of money and/or had great success in their field knows that...Basically make a goal, think positive, then take action. If any one of those are missing then you are on a road to nowhere.

Found this knocking around on youtube, also claims to be b3d

Yes, I think that Italian one is - or at least was. They are registered Blitzers.

B3D is kool :)

Blasphemy! Sacriledge! Heritage! Adnauseam!

GFK, Portal is sweet. I don't want to hype it up too much but it's just a good game. It only takes about 3 hours to beat, you should give it a shot. I saw it in Target the other day for $10. I got it in the Orange Box for the 360 ... but I mainly bought it for Portal. It's just a solid game with character despite not having any traditional characters.

..to me any FPS what is not typical crap like walk and shoot everything, is good improvement in genre..so, this lil B3D thingy seems to be kind of refreshment as well as Portal, no matter i like it or not..

They both look decent at least. I can't comment on the gameplay till I've had a go on them.

You're probably missing the point: this kind of games are platform/puzzles, just in 1st person view. It's not that any 1st person view game must necessarily be a shooter, nor everyone wants to play FPS's.

Portal in this respect reaches excellency, and unless you are looking for a game which provides a bodycount it's a far better deal than Half Life 2: Episode 1 & 2 (which are very flat design-wise compared to Half Life and Half Life 2).

Anyway I agree that the videoclip provides lots of boxes. :)
I can't say much about the gameplay or level design from the movie, but the overall atmosphere looks very good though.

EDIT: and GLAdos is more than enough as far as NPC's go... believe me, Portal doesn't need any more than that! it's one of those rare well-written characters in modern game history.

Never played Portal myself but it sure has brilliantly catchy end music

BTW: What is all this "Cake is a lie" thing?

BTW: What is all this "Cake is a lie" thing?

Inside stuff. You'll have to play the game to find out... or just Google it. But, it is a lie. Pretty disappointing.

You have to play the game ... it's just fantastic. Don't Google it, that will wreck the game.

Cake, as in the drug?

:P

But, it is a lie. Pretty disappointing.

If you finished it you'd know that the cake was not a lie. =]

And I'm with Jeremy. Don't watch Portal, play the thing. Tis a good.

If you finished it you'd know that the cake was not a lie. =]

yes but it's fun to say "the cake is a lie"
