Subject: Munsoft Photo Recovery
I have just purchased this product and frankly I am very very disappointed
given that it does not even get close to what it is advertised as doing.

It seemed to be successful in the evaluation so I purchased the licence.
However, on finally getting to see the photos it had recovered, it seems the
500 photos it recovered were just frames from the movie files. It actually
only recovered 3 photos!

Subsequently I downloaded and have now purchased
http://www.cardrecovery.com/ Photo recovered and it found 821 photos that
your software failed to recover.

I have now uninstalled your software and want a full refund, as far as I'm
concerned you are advertising your software fraudulently.

Thank you for purchasing Easy Digital Photo Recovery!

Our program recovers the maximum of possible to recover photos and provides
preview function for each of available for recovery photo so you were able
to preview all recoverable photos before purchasing the software.

We are sorry for inconvenience but a refund or return is not possible. We do
not offer refunds on
software where the registration key code has already been sent to the
customer.

We go to great lengths to produce a trial version with which customers can
ensure their satisfaction and system compatibility. This allows our
customers
to make an informed purchasing decision. Once that purchase has been made,
we do not offer a cash refund or an exchange. We feel this policy is
consistent
with the major software retailers worldwide.

Unlike physical goods, electronically distributed software and software
licenses can be duplicated. Once a license has been issued, it is
unfortunately
not possible for us to recall all copies.

If you have any other questions we are open for them.

Your evaluation is massively flawed then, if I had known the majority of the photos it
recovered we 320x240 res frames from movies I would never have purchased it.

Further more your claim of "Our program recovers the maximum of possible to recover
photos and provides preview function for each of available for recovery photo so you were
able to preview all recoverable photos before purchasing the software." is clearly wrong
as it only recovered 3 of the 821 photos cardrecovery found.

With regards to distributing the key I have, this is never going to happen as I would
never wish this woefully inadequate software on anyone.

I am still of the opinion that your are advertising your software fraudulently as clearly
your bold claims of 'Easy Digital Photo Recovery uses unique algorithms that are
specifically optimized for photo recovery. This is the reason for successful recovery of
the highest possible number of photos' is nothing but exaggeration at the very best.

I shall be seeking further advice on this matter.

Regards, Rob.

Suggestions welcome! It's only £15 but it's the principle of them shipping software that doesn't work!

Credit card purchase? Can you do a charge back? Let them know you're quite active in the software industry and will make no reseverations about contacting popular download portals. :)

Absolutely. Nothing more annoying

So they assume you are a potentional pirate too?
I would nail them hard

One vote for charge back here too!

Yeh if it was a credit card charge it would be 'easy' to recover it, just phone your bank/financial institution.

Unfortunately it's not credit card, it's debit card via shareit

Yep, charge back them. You've done a good job of spreading the word it's crap though, so, if you get your cash back, that'll be a double blow to them.

Slightly OT, i thought that file recovery software worked mostly all the same. I didn't realise you could optimise the search for just photos.

Tried complaining to share-it?

Tried complaining to share-it?
I've not, suppose I may as well give it a go! Do you think it'll have any impact?

It will.

Fill in the form on the page you end up at. You'll need your order reference number. Explain to them your grounds for requesting a refund and they'll sort it.

Did this myself recently with software that for me was flawed beyond use, and it was refunded within 24 hours.

You really got munsoned there..

I didn't realise you could optimise the search for just photos.

Well, if you don't look for 'files' and you narrow the search down to 'photos', you've theoretically made it easier for yourself for a number of reasons... you have a greater knowledge of what file formats to scan for, including compression and storage algorythms, etc... you don't need to recover a complete file if you know the image component is fine... it's easier to reconstruct images than it is misc files... basically you can create more specialised code for the search.

This is one reason why I always buy everything online using my credit card, you can always get your money back and you are protected against any liability, from fraud or poor quality products. The merchants also don't want to get a bad rap with the credit card companies.

Barclaycard also offer a satisfaction guarantee and 12 months insurance with anything you buy. Considering most people can get a barclaycard for free it's well worth it for online stuff.

Darkheart

Still, complaining to their distributors (Share*It) and any portal or community sites you can afford the time to complain at is also pretty effective against dodgy companies, if you don't have a credit card. Or even if you do. But I wouldn't waste the time myself.

Does your debit card also have a visa/mastercard logo on it? If so, I believe you can still do a chargeback.

Wouldn't a chargeback give you a bad credit rating? I recall I bought some goods of one site and the terms on their website were if you attempt a chargeback they will give you a bad crediit rating. is this for real?

Also how can I chargeback a paypal transaction? Its been a week since I paid and there's no response from seller.

I recall I bought some goods of one site and the terms on their website were if you attempt a chargeback they will give you a bad crediit rating. is this for real?
No. More likely it was an illicit website. Your credit rating is not determined by how many times you get ripped off by scrupulous merchants. Your credit rating (at least in Denmark) is determined by things like salary, property ownership, car ownership, telephone ownership, and paying bills on time (or at least, not losing in court over it). Just go get 'em Rob! Feed them to the lions!

is this for real?
No. But I guess if somebody is gathering 'free' software by buying it then repeatedly getting their money refunded, they [shareit, whoever else] can stop selling to you.

In legal terms this is where statutory rights come into effect. Basically when you buy something, it must be:

* As described.
* Fit for purpose.
* Of satisfactory quality.

If the product doesn't meet all three of the above, then at your discretion you can request:

* A full refund, OR
* A partial refund/reduction in price, OR
* Compensation, OR
* Repair/replacement.

The latter two don't normally apply for downloaded products but still form part of the Sale of Goods Act.

Your credit rating is not determined by how many times you get ripped off by scrupulous merchants.

Hmm, these particular ones strike me as more unscrupulous than anything. =]

Also how can I chargeback a paypal transaction? Its been a week since I paid and there's no response from seller.

Contact PayPal. They have strict measures against bad sellers (mostly in conjunction with eBay, but I'm sure they'd listen regardless).

A month ago I got rid of a *very* crooky phone subscription by threatening to make a lot of noise about it on one of the world's largest internet communities (which is true, actually being crew there) while also threatening with my status as upcoming journalist (which is actually true since I'm studying journalism atm). Crooks hate publicity about their products, thus they're reasonably scared of journalists.. ^_^
