price seams a bit high to me, but im in the UK so im not sure what you get for your $

Could source the parts and build that yourself for less than $1000.

If I'm reading that right - 420W PSU? o.O That's not enough - the CPU alone under load will suck up a third of that by itself. Generally speaking, a 600W PSU running at 75% capacity is more reliable/stable than a 450W PSU running at 100% (or close to it).

Is it a good price? IMHO, no.

Also - Crossfire mobo and nVidia card. I would check what other mobos they offer - it might be fine; however, it seems geared to ATI.

take the list to a local computer shop (without the price) and see what kind of price it would be to build it for you...sometimes you can get a lot better deal...mine is similar for $949....

i'll up the powersupply and look at more nvidia friendly mobo. any suggestions in that area? im not interested in overclocking, but need something super stable/driver support with winxp.

CyberPower have the build your own PC option so you will have to get one of theirs - I am not sure they will supply a system without supplying the mobo.

For a grand total of $1,026.74 (without counting the mail-in rebates you'll never get). So, 400$ less, and you get a 600W PSU and a 4870 which is superior to the 9800GTX+. However, I would either throw a 1TB or a secondary 500GB HDD, or a primary SSD (~32GB) for the OS. You could also upgrade to a P5Q deluxe (around 70$), which would better if you ever wanted to do xfire.

If you really feel the need to go the nVidia route, I would swap the 4870 for:
EVGA E-GEFORCE GTX 260 576MHZ 896MB 2.0GHZ GDDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I HDCP HDTV Out Video Card - $289.99
and swap the mobo for:

So that would be around 80$ more.

that gives me a lot more info about what flexibility i have. One of the things i wanted to avoid was just buying all the parts. I hate putting a computer together. But i think in the end it may be worth the price.

With NCIX, for $50 you can get them to do the pre-assembly of your computer. You just add the pre-assembly to your cart and voila!
