Why does Win32 Service pop up keep causing it

Hiya all,

I have format my hard drive and put PC Tool Internet Security 2009 and was on surfing the net which fine but for few days later...

Generic Host process for win32 Service keep poping up and it stop from my internet working.

How can I curse the problem?
Does anyone know please?

If I remember correctly, Internet Security 2009 is a virus in it's self (Well at least a result of one) so I would look into that first....

I had full scan from PC tool Internet security 2009 and had got no virus but why do I have Generic Host process for win32 Service keep poping up!

Does that mean I need a Kaspersky Internet security 2009 instead of PC tool Internet security 2009?

Never ever use anything that has "Internet Security" in its title. They cause more bother than they're worth.

Uninstall it and get AVG. And stay off mucky websites.

Sounds like your internet security software is failing, or is buggy.

Switch to an alternative for a while to see if it cures it, or reinstall Windows.

Yep it is !!! Shocking!

Now I got AVG 8 install and been surfing ever since...no problem!

Sounds like the virus I've got on my old hard drive.

It kept popping windows pretending to be some sort of virus check, and peddling some (bogus?) anti-virus software similar (or possibly the same) in name to your Internet Security 2009. It also kept changing my desktop wallpaper to an image of a bogus alert window.

I found I could shut it down temporarily by opening the Task Manager and shutting down a suspicious process that used a random string of characters as its name. Avast anti-virus popped an alert when the process started, but was useless in eliminating it (possibly my fault, as I had been tardy in some of my AV updating). In the end I had to re-install Windows on a different hard drive.

And by the way, the reason your internet connection is locked up is likely that the virus is busy downloading your files. I'd recommend disconnecting the infected computer from the internet and changing your important passwords. I had a few failed attempts to access my acounts after I changed my passwords following the virus attack.

Not necessarily true. What's most likely to happen is that they have overridden the DNS resolver on your machine and use it to monitor what you are browsing to throw you popup ads. It sometimes also mix up your DNS resolver to bring you something different, or sometimes, nothing at all.

For anyone with that virus Bill described, Malwarebytes gets rids of it.
