Cool paint program for free...an hour or so left!!
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Cool paint program for free...an hour or so left!! Why on earth would anyone download a programme that can only be activated once and have to be purchased if I ever reinstall? This is a demo, not a 'free' programme.
Didn't know that. I thought the program looked interesting. I havn't even installed it yet. My $ are so low, anything free gets my attention. lol..

Because you can install it and use it for as long as you like?Because its free and its legal?
Because its potentially very useful?
If you like and use it so much, why would you protest to having to pay the paltry sum of $19.00 for a 'proper' licence a year down the line?
You don't think that people deserve to make profit from their hard work?
normally a demo would be listed as just that
i can
a
b
c
d
e
f
i cannot
save as bmp
save as jpg
save as gif
(ie only save in its own format like psp layers, forbidding the ability to save at all is a chocolate teapot situation)
i will stop working 30 days after installation
this one used to get my goat, id sometimes use a program once a week if it was lucky but it was 30 calenda days not 'days' days
back in the day of just having the 'clasic' blitz basic the blitz3D demo killed its instances limit on me due to opening a second or 3rd ide when i double clicked a .bb (i didnt know that unlike alot of other programs that had tabbs id be scuppered or i would have hunted for the file via the load browser)

GraphicsGale is surely the best fee paint prog?
>Because you can install it and use it for as long as you like?
yes, but you can't install again without buying it.
>Because its free and its legal?
It's not free, it's just one free installation.
>Because its potentially very useful?
Which has absolutely nothing to do with it being free...

Read it again... I am not complaining about the price, I am complaining about this trialware being peddled as free software. I think it should be given away, clearly labelled as a fully functional single-install demo.
>You don't think that people deserve to make profit from their hard work?
Where the heck did I say that. Have you even read what I wrote...

Andy, curious...how often do have to reinstall utility software? I have a dev system running where I've never had to reinstall a utility program ever. Going on 6 years now.
If I get a few months worth, or 6 years worth of use from this, it is certainly worth the price and I wouldn't lable it as trialware or crippleware by any means.

I call it free, to all intents and purposes.
>Andy, curious...how often do have to reinstall utility software?
It depends on how often I change hardware, which is quite often...

Well, I guess we have different standards for what 'free' means.
