Anyone have the COLLADA plugin for unwrap

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Anyone have the COLLADA plugin for unwrap

Ive just got Cinema 4d R11 with collada export and wanted to see if i could use it to get a animated mesh into blitz3d. but the unwrap3d site is down so i cant get the plugin for unwrap, grrrrr

does anyone have a copy its only 56k or so.

Ultimate Unwrap v3.01 Collada plugin http://www.dawlane.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/unwrap/dae.zip

This is the newest I've got hope it helps.

And whats C4D R11 like have they improved the file exports (say like joint export for DX files?)

thanks. no its just collada and rib export thats new x and fbx still are very broken.

oh sorry i should have said i only have 2.x version and thats the 3.x plugin.

oh its ok there site is back!!!!

oh F*****G hell it doesnt work mesh is bent all over the place

Dunno about Cinema4D specifically but it's good practice to make sure any mesh and/or armature's scale\location\rotations are applied before export. The description you give of a "mesh bent all over the place" is a classic sympton of this showing upon import to another package.

HTH

i setup a basic tube with 2 bones that bends like an elbow. its about as simple as it gets so if that doesnt export nothing will

That doesn't sound too good then. You must wonder if they bother testing these things given the infamous state (non-functioning) of their .fbx exporter.

ok with some tweaking ive got it almost working, the problem now is that the mesh has been rotated 90 degrees and the bones are where they should be. the animation works but the mesh is in the wrong position?

ive tried rotating the mesh in unwrap but it doent work?

thanks. no its just collada and rib export thats new x and fbx still are very broken.

Thats a shame.

Any way why use unwrap when theres uv tools in C4D?

because he wants to export to b3d

Rotating the mesh won't work because the bones are keyed and the mesh will conform to those immediately anyway. You really need some way of rotating the entire rig. 3dsMax lets you do this by parenting the whole thing to a "dummy" but I don't really use Ultimate Unwrap so I'm not sure what the equivalent is, or if there even is one.

Psionic is giving it a look too, hopefully he can get it working.
