Ok so the big day is finally on its way, I start tutoring/teaching courses this week coming... any tips:P? I had passed all courses and have the know how, its just a bit daunting.

Did some home tutoring in Physics/Math a few years back. That was just one-on-one. Couldn't imagine taking on a whole class!

Tip: Don't let them know you're a first year teacher, otherwise it'll go downhill from there.

I think he's refering to the old advice for public speaking: try and picture your audience in their underwear.

Its adult education, ICT from the very basics to the more advanced.
You've got nothing to worry about - the people you're teaching are there through choice and will actually want to learn. Secondary school would be a different kettle of fish.
That always worked very well for me:
Be patient with your students and don't give them the feeling that they're stupid. Some might even be afraid of the machine (I've seen that a lot), and others might feel embarrassed that they don't understand something right away; make it clear that this is not their fault, but that the software is poorly designed and unnecessary complicated (which usually is nothing but the truth anyway). When they're stuck, try to figure out what they originally wanted to do and listen to their ideas first before you tell them how you would solve it - there's always more than one way to do it, and maybe your students approach will actually work once you helped them locate and solve their problem.
In any case, always be patient and listen.

I'm pretty sure that's gotten some teachers fired....
Make a teaching plan, prepare accompaning material to hand out .... and relax :)

my brother does IT teaching for adults
his classes (although cut down alot this last year which has annoyed him alot due to not enough dosh) vary in ages from 20something 'dole scum' there only cos the job centre sent them there or theyd loose their giro to OAP's sent by their childeren to learn how to use their new christmas present of a computer and a mix bag inbetween
he finds teaching the 'dole scum' groups the hardest as they dont want to be there and dont want to learn, once theyve been signed in the register they feel like they should just swan off to the pub
one OAP needed his help to trace his old squadron from the war, he found the odd photo of him and found out that some of his comrades were still alive and got in contact with them
he loves the job, when he isnt complaining about the office dropping his hours and its moments like that one that counteract the people that dont want to be there in the first place

All went well, had the standard lesson plan etc etc, but all good:D
