New ipod nano not stayin connected

ok.. here is my sitiation....

I just bought the new nano.. and downloaded itunes 8

ok.. i tried to hook it up w/ the included cable.. and it wouldnt stay connected for more than 10-20 seconds bfore it would disconnect itself... one time it stayed on long enough for me to get 4 songs on using the manual thing...

but here is the weird part.. it will allow itself to be connected to another computer that has itunes 8.. i connected it to a friends.. and it stayed the whole time.. long enough to take 800 of his songs... wat is happening.... im ticked

Try to avoid apple products.

iPhones are cool though

if any one has any help.. that would be great... comments like the two above.. are welcome as well.. but i would like to have some answers and suggestions

Try a different USB port.

For some reason my iPod Touch refuses to work from the ports on the front of my PC rig, but has no problem with the ones on the rear.

I tried 4 different usb ports... i tried resetting the ipod... i tried jiggling the connection,

My OS is windows btw

Since it's new, send it in to an apple store, they will replace it for free. I'm sure it's defective.

Well thats what I thought.. but it works on every other computer i try it on... i would use these computers... but they arent mine.. and i dont have administrative rights on them.. so i cant install itunes.....is there a setting on my computer that i can change? or something...

The iPods charge themselves through the USB cable, so they will only properly work on a USB port that has sufficient power. It seems that your iPod falls back to power safe mode after a few seconds because it is not being powered from the USB port to which it is connected.

Try connecting it to a powered USB hub and see what happens. Most internal PCI USB cards also give enough juice to their USB ports. Of course, you should also first try it with all available USB ports on your computer - try the ones at the back first; they usually are fully powered.

i will try the hub thing.... and all i have is that card.. in the back.. none up front.. i tried all of the rear ones..

It charges my psp through the back its usb 2.0.... why wouldnt it charge this?


I also have a surround sound system for my entertainment area.. and it has a usb port.. and it will connect to that... and charge off of that..
