How do you Remove Trojan Virus!?

Hiya all,

I try to format my hard drive which is the best solution but it wont let me!

I am sure there is file to remove the Trojan Virus for once and all!

Does anyone know?

if you have the recovery CD's that came with your computer make a DBAN ( http://www.dban.org/ ) CD and boot off that to wipe your HD clean then reinstall everything with the recovery CD.

Do you not have virus protection?

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware worked wonders for me with a really tricky one.

I have Spybot, CCleaner, Hjackthis.

I dont which one is best virus protections as there loads of them!

I've been using the freeware version of AVG 8. Not a problem since.

Ad-Aware and then a full scan with Dr. Web trial.

How are you trying to format it?

you can try booting from the windows boot CD/DVD, and have it format the drive for you before starting the reinstall... (Optionally remove/recreate the partition altogether)

also note: some computers have a BIOS setting that prevents changes to the bootsector, if that option is enabled then you may not be able to format the entire drive without disabling it first.

None of those are antivirus software.

Bring it to your local computer centre.

Malwarebytes removed really tough ones, like the virus that hides your drives in explorer, removes the start menu and leaves an icon in your tray telling you to download a certain all to fix it. I tried a whole bunch of tools to remove it and only that one worked. I uninstalled it after and bought NOD32 which seems to be the best out there for actual virus protection and not stealing too many resources.

How do you know - what makes you think this - specifically?

Make sure you have error checked the drive - you must force Windows to reboot to do this - it has to be an offline check. Do this via the prompt chdksk with the switches - or just do it by right clicking the drive and ticking the options (fix file system errors/scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors). Let that process run before you try to format the drive.

My educated guess is it is not a trojan as a trojan is a specific form of mal-ware for specific uses.

Get hold of an anti-virus program (AVG free is good), turn off system restore, run the AV and pay attention to the directories it finds them in. I have come across some malware that creates folders that can't be normally seen by the system. To get rid of these folders you will have to do a bit of console terminal work.
