It's some video from the BBC News 24 TV station. A former Ministry of Defense guy who was in charge of the UFO investigation unit for the MOD. He was cheekily referred to as the British Fox Mulder, and he's been banging on about this for ages.

I will confirm that it's real footage. I will also confirm that it's from two years ago. Puki, as ever, with his finger on the pulse of current events.

I met Nick Pope once. He was talking at an event in Bristol. Seemed like a pretty decent bloke to me.

If I see a ufo with my own eyes then I'll be convinced but people like this guy can't be taken seriously. He hasn't even seen a ufo and yet he thinks the UK should build a defense system against things we know nothing about in the extremely unlikely event of an alien invasion. Lol

If these UFO's are alien craft, what kind of defense system does he want with our level of technology?

I've seen ufo's here in Texas. One night I was laying down on my back on my deck, around 2:00am, and this object flies right over my house. I could hear some kind of engine, but it was so quiet. I knew something was there because the stars were replaced with blackness.

Now, a few years later, I'm fairly certain it was either a helicopter or a jet with the engine silencers on. I know some heli craft can fly at low altitude with some kind of engine muffler on.

I also beleive most "ufos" are experimental military craft being developed. I remember a long time ago, before the USA's stealth line was announced, everyone kept on seeing flying triangles in the night sky. We now know it was the Stealth fighters/bombers. ;)

It is the BBC News, and yes, it is a crock.

You can tell how seriously the newscaster is taking it, by the way he grins and bounces up and down as he's talking at the start of the report.

as for ufo's its always assumed to be alien the u stands for unidentified which could be anything if you dont know what it is
afaik no one had seen a horse in america till it was imported, so imagine being a native of north or south america and seeing some bloke in armour sat astride one, what the hell would you think it was

I've always wondered about how unidentified something has to be...

For example, if I see a Helicopter in the sky, I can say "Yes, it's a helicopter" but I can't identify any further than that (generally)... So is this Identified or not? likewise, if I see a Flying Saucer in the sky I can say "Yes, it's a flying saucer" Now, not knowing exact model numbers or not suggests that it's not identified... or is it... You see my confusion on the matter!? ;)

For purposes of UFO - it is identified as a helicopter and not a UFO. I've personally seen the "weird lights moving across the night sky in strange patterns", although those are UFOs I've never thought they were anything alien. Other people see something like that and automatically assume "alien".

Any intelligent lifeform from another planet would probably take a ten lightyear detour to avoid the cesspool that is our planet.

Also, if an alien race has the technology to travel between the stars with ludicrous speed you would think they also have technology to remain out of earths orbit and study us from a distance.

Than again they might just have the strange urge to 'boldy go and anal probe where no alien has anal probed before'. You never know ;)

if asked to describe an alien, most of us will, under hypnosis or not, probably describe the same 'grey' aleins that have become a cliche, the same kind that are

True, all we need to do now is ask why. Two major alternatives come to mind.

1 - (Highly unlikely) is that the Greys are real.
2 - (very likely) is that they were populizered in modern culture.

The interesting thing to note is how the rise in UFO sightings increased at about the same time as Science Fiction caught on... An interesting coincidence is the decrease in demon sightings (and demons don't look anything like the Greys - so if it was some long ago thing implanted in our collective subconscious it took an aweful long time to show up)

PS - Anyone see a show about a decade ago where they "examined" the information about an alien. In quotes because the science was totally flubbed. Case in point, they said the Greys were skinny since their planet had a high gravity compared to Earth. (this particularshow had the guy that played BJ Hunicut in MASH as a host, and I recommend it as a very funny way to spend an hour)

I dont understand why people keep refering to "aliens" as UFOs. If set my underpants on fire, threw em out of a plane and someone couldnt identify them they are officially an U.nidentified F.lying O.bject.
In light of that, of course UFOs exist! so according to hotshots survey 36% of people are morons.

As for aliens they probably do -somewhere- out there, after all space is a big place. I doubt they are anywhere near here though.

The reverse (calling a UFO an Alien), there are a number of people who do so on purpose. I can't keep count of how many times I've heard someone say "The government admits there are UFOS!", then goes prattling on about it being proof of aliens...

Feels better to laugh then stress about the things I can not change. There's very little hope when a majority is conformed and ignorant. Why do people not want to know these things? or why do they not look, or wonder?

As for UFO's, i'll stick with missiles/conspiracies over aliens bothering to hang around earth in disc ships and grey arts'n'craft ragdolls. I suppose if I get pulled up by a gravity beam in the woods and get molested by little grey/green creatures, i'll believe something more critical haha.
