I thought I was okay, but now I'm starting to get excited over Wrath of the Lich King coming out, only 56 days left!
Who's with me?
I don't play wow.
However, Fable 2 comes out sooner, hmm, tough decision.
Tough decision? Nah, don't buy either and go down the pub talk to people who aren't elves.
Stay away from fairies also...
It's not single player so I'm not interested. Why? Because if I got in MMORPGs no one would ever see my game. I'd be safer on Heroin.
(I say this based on some Quake3 era multiplayer addiction)
There is a new Crysis add-on out in 2 days.
The new Football Manager 2009 will feature a 3D match engine (self-touch in excitement).
I played WoW for more than a year, and didn't do much else. I had a level 70 tauren warrior on the Hellfire server and some months ago I just decided to delete it and stop playing. Although I have to admit that sometimes I miss it.. but at least now I can make my own games again. Still, a pity. I had just bought a cool Vengeful Gladiator helmet. Haha.. And I had just done all the blacksmithing stuff and created the Stormherald, one of the best pvp weapons. Aaah I have to stop thinking about it.. aarghh... One of the best games ever made, only a bit too good perhaps.
they didnt call it world of warCRACK for nothing ;)
I'm with you on gaming addiaction; it's probably the hardest thing for me to keep under control in my teenage life right now. One of the things I do is NOT play MMOs like World of Warcraft. If I did, my life & day-to-day productivity would go down the tubes completely. Seriously.
The closest thing to an MMO that I play is TrackMania Nations Forever, which is difficult enough for me to keep under control. I'm a people person, so I love playing with others, and I'm seriouosly egotistical & competetive, so I love playing against others. If I started playing MMOs, I would probably have to sign over my soul. =P
Once you're truly addicted to games, you NEVER really get over it; the most you can do is live in a constant state of concious self-control. Or so I think. ^_^
MMO's are a blast - but seriously time consuming. I know people that have been addicted to MMO's for over 3 years, thats three years of unheathy sitting on your butt in your room staring at the computer screen for 5+ hours. Every day. For three years.
Needless to say the individuals i'm refering to are very out of shape: anti social, over-weight/anorexic, And just not fun to talk to because all they usualy talk about is their precious WoW and how they just beat the nightelf-whatever-thingy-majig.
But those are the few that are completely lost in it - I know many nice fun people that play mmo's too.
I used to get pretty hooked on games in my teenage years. These days they are too mind numbingly repetitive, I just can't get the motivation to do the same thing over and over just to build stats. Which get boring anyway when it's too easy to kill or whatever it is you do to increase those stats.
WoW needs to be smitten by a lvl 70 shaman.
Never played it and never want to, stupid game full of kiddies.
MMO's nowadays are the same thing over and over.. you level up, get some skills and stats and grind alll day long to what end?
I have gotten addicted to some games before, these include: Mount & Blade, Rome Total War, and Rise of Nations. I decided to quit that but eventually got hooked on anime shows. I quit that and now I will probably get hooked on something else... I think that it's good to get hooked on something as long as it produces "real life" gold. ;)
I played WoW for 3 year, it was a tough decision (for me) to stop and cancelling the account took me another few months.
Since then, i read a lot of books, saw all episodes of Andromeda, Voyager & Painkiller Jane and i've recently started programming in BlitzMax. For me, finally quiting WoW has been an eye opener.
I know, some would say that trading WoW for watching some old sci-fi series isn't really enhancing the quality of my leisure time but atleast these series have an end (or just not any more episodes made). WoW is unending, it just sucks you in, consumes all your free time.
Why Blizzard, why do you hunt me in my dreams ;)

For once, we agree completely!

What? Watching Farscape enriches everyone's lives. It funny, imaginative and practically unheard of. It should be considered mandatory.
grrrr, I program to get away from my partner talking about WoW! And now I find a WoW thread! ARRRGGGGHHHHHH.
I was addicted to Everquest back in the day, did that for 4 years and was very much in the high end game of my server. I have played WoW, but after EQ I just couldnt get into it, I got as far as level 53 or something. On the one hand I can understand some of what my other half talks about now, but on the other hand I wish I didnt have a clue because then i'd be spared any discussion about it.
Note to self: Being supportive and getting involved are seperate concepts.
I tried to play WoW, it was incredibly boring.
Before any WoW fans tell me you need to play for hours to level up before it becomes good...WTF...how can you say a game is good when you need to sit through hours of boring shite first, thats clearly a game design flaw.
I'll admit, I do play wow a fair bit. But nothing like when I first started. I used to play an average of two hours a day, that's the most I ever got to. These days it's more like an hour or so every few days. The big problem is you need to play for so long to accomplish anything, they really do want you to play wow and do nothing else in life.
My youtube channel is a good distraction from this though as I feel pressured by my subscribers to produce more tutorials.
I'll get excited when Star Craft 2 finally arrives.

Thank god I'm not the only one who thinks this, I thought a 5th series should have been commissioned as the Peace Keeper Wars left too many loose ends.

Same here, I installed the 30 day trial thing, played it for 30 mins, got bored, then painted a wall and watched it dry!
Top stuff!
Dabz
The beginning levels are boring now that there aren't many people playing in them. When WoW first came out, there were so many people scattered thourgh out all the level ranges that it was really fun at the lower levels. Now, if you are playing a char that isn't above about 50th level, you end up being alone most of the time.
When I was playing, I used to take my 70th level char and hangout in the lower zones and help random people with their quests. Gave me something to do, and helped them out.
I could take a single 30th or 40th level character through dungeons that required a whole group of 30th or 40th level characters. Which is nice for them, because there just aren't enough people in some of the level ranges to find a group to do the dungeon with.
Devil May Cry 4 for PC played with a wiimote is pretty cool.
