Tank Universal reviewed in PC PRO

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Tank Universal reviewed in PC PRO

Considering they only review about 2 games a month, I was pleasantly surprised to see this reviewed in there. It's a very positive review scoring 4/6 stars. They didn't have anything bad to say about it other then the fact there is no ability to save midway through a mission. Here's a quote:

We love this new breed of games that aim for playful, stylised graphics over photorealism. It gives scope for beautiful effects and true visual creativity beyond slogging towards ever more convincing wrinkles on the skin of your buxom female sidekick.

Well done MadJack!

Sausages!!!

PC PRO doesn't review any old game, it needs to be something worthwhile and written in a respectable language. Tank Universal & Blitz 3D fulfills both of these requirements.

Mucho respect to Mad Jack!

wow... congrats!

well deserved!

I bet most reviewers and users don't even know (or care) what languages are involved in the game they are playing. It is relevant to the developers alone and to some extent to the publishers.

Anyway, all the reviews so far have been very positive:

@Doiron, call me bad, but I thought I'd drop a line & see if I got a bite. I don't normally fish - sorry. In fact some people would be surprised at the amount of apps that are in a Blitz product, albeit wrapped within an externally driven app like (wash my mouth out) VB6 GUI - I'm guilty for doing that myself. No slight on BMax GUI, it's just I already had VB6, BMax and B3d.

Like you say, all reviews positive, not three bad! Also, you've a very impressive looking website.

@Blitzpotter: You were trying to see if someone nitpicked about the quality of B3D? Blitz products after all are well respected since the amiga days :) Anyway, what I meant is that it isn't something which is considered when rating a game: you see gameplay, graphics, audio, longevity, immersion, stability and innovation. Nobody looks at the core, unless it's using groundbreaking technology. The producers might if the product must be integrated in their framework, but otherwise neither them are interested. In the end, the game itself shows the quality of its basis, language involved among other things. Often wannabe programmers (but even experienced ones) are more preoccupied of this aspect than others will ever be. Thanks for the comment about the website! :)

If you paid full money for a game and discovered it was written in BASIC that might give you pause ;-)

Pete

Thanks for the heads-up on PC Pro.

It's strange thing though, after having spent so long on a project, there's a certain amount of 'disconnect' now that it's finally out...

No, not what I meant, it was a poor attempt at sincerely applauding Blitz... I have been a strong supporter of Blitz since the Amiga, indeed I may attempt to get an application I developed in Blitz Basic 2.1 onto the XBox in the near future, the hardware I developed worked via the joystick port which is accomodated within a Amiga Emulator.

@Madjack, yeah pause indeed ! (;-) - for the uninitiated.

'Disconnect'..now that's one feeling I want to feel!

Excellent work, and it's finally paid off for you. Sweetness indeed.
